Honestly; I love the points you bring up...

The Desire to [maintain the Steem blockchain](https://steemit.com/steem/@luke490/my-steemit-ten-commandments) does unite us like the belief in a single omnipotent being unites believers.
But the application known as "Steemit.com" is simply a portal into viewing the Steem blockchain, like "Unity" is the portal(GUI) to Ubuntu-Linux. 

Currently the majority owners of Steem are also the owners of the Steemit, I too would love to see Steemit build new methods for perceiving the Steem blockchain.
