# First off, I'd like to thank @shaneradliff for introducing me to this awesome site! 

[MathBot.com](https://mathbot.com/about) is an online game and website devoted to teaching adults and children alike to code (and "math") by *doing.* The seamless introduction of coding concepts, mechanisms, and thought processes is really quite remarkable. My son is running around the house now talking about "functions" and is practicing defining them properly to reach his desired outcome. Pretty fucking cool! The reason it sticks so hard? It's FUN!!!

In the case of my son, it's quite funny. He likes to play the game in real life, now, writing down his commands on pieces of paper and "running his program" with me as the robot, attempting to reach his/my desired goal, which is a cushion positioned in the room at a location of his selection. :)

# So what *is* the game?
Well, basically, the goal is to get your robot to a little vortex/warp/escape space on the map, denoted by a kind of spinning vortex icon. As one progresses through the stages and the difficulty increases, new functions must be defined, new obstacles and challenges emerge, and new math, spatial concepts, and coding mechanisms must be employed. As I said just before, the beauty of the game is that one is so absorbed in getting to the goal, it doesn't feel like the game is "trying to teach you" anything. This is the most important aspect of unschooling. Play. A goal. A mission. Not..."teaching."

# Pretty cool, right?
Rumor has it there will also be a Bitcoin functionality added soon, as a incentivization tof some sort (I'm not sure exactly how this will work...just what I've heard), which of course makes things even more interesting. My son is into Bitcoin as well, so his ears perked up when I mentioned that Bitcoin might be involved soon. Regardless, it's a kick ass game that gives a solid foundation for the problem solving and critical thinking skills require to code, and do basic mathematical calculations in everyday life!
