so, I must think I'm really that worthy, huh?

ha ha, sorry about that, just sitting here thinking about the whole self-upvoting thing that we've got going on here... just so happens that my buddy @steevc mentions the very same happenings in his recent post esteem://vlog/@steevc/vlog-20170906 so I guess I'm not the only one...

thing is, if upvoting oneself is so frowned upon then why does the function even exist? can we really blame people for taking advantage of options that are made available to them? it's just another loophole in the system, the type that corporations and governments look for all the time, ha ha...

did I answer one of my many questions inadvertently right there?

well, at the end of the day, I'll always refrain from patting myself on the back too much... it's just not a good look... this doesn't mean that I'll penalize or demonize those that do, but perhaps I'll consider their self-upvote to be the upvote I would've otherwise given them myself...

I did upvote myself at the early stage... but then I feel kinda weird doing so... so I stopped doing it now... but once a while I will still upvote my own post when it's near the payout... =_=

Difficult topic, Ive done it before. I think we all have. Im still on the bottom of the food chain here, but I can see how later down the road, lets say one of my votes were worth $20. By upvoting my own post I would automatically go to the HOT page. where I would get better exposure. I think that may be why we see the same Users on that page and the Trending page all the time. I guess it boils down to a Morals issue. Do you want to earn because your Posts are being viewed because people really like them, or because you have the Voting Power to force them to the top. Steemit is still a young Baby just going through some growing pains. I think they will eventually be ironed out.

I agree with @woodywood143 my vote is pennies so I upvote myself and others.  Do I think my post was worth let's say 8 cents, yes or I would not be posting. Lol.. if I felt it was immortal I would insist they take that option away or stop doing it.  It can be lonely at the bottom sometimes.  I do take a lot of my personal time commenting and meeting others so I try and contribute in many ways.  When my vote is worth 20 dollars then I will stop .. yes that is when I may stop.. I know some of the big guys self vote their posts..they will tell you but they also vote other people's posts.  Ok enough about me .. Lol.. glad to be in here with all the Tsuvians discussing a fun issue.

I think it actually is set as the Default here when you first create your account. I remember having to uncheck the box about a week after I was here and figured it out.
