It isn't "underdeveloped" though. Someone at SteemIt actively asked the question .. "should we put the image helper on comment replies?" and after some deliberation they decided .. "no, we should not put the image uploader on comment replies." the users are speaking up by saying "YES WE WANT THE IMAGE UPLOADER" :) that is the way of open source

Yes, that is the way of Open Source. However from a UX perspective, Steemit.com leaves much to be desired. And as commented by others elsewhere, this is a lower priority for the Steemit dev team. If you also look under the logo, it still says beta. So the website was launched publicly, "underdeveloped." "YES I WANT THE IMAGE UPLOADER!" =)
