Work meetings can be very tiring, especially during the weekend when Laura has to take care of her kids and the entire home. 
It’s Sunday and Laura’s family has to go to church very early in the morning as usual and besides, she needs to attend a virtual work meeting. At the crack of dawn, Laura jumped out of the bed and started the house chores so that she can meet up for the virtual meeting time and attend church as well. 

Laura’s volatile husband who is never cool with the virtual work meetings that Laura attends every weekend began to perambulate through the whole house. While permabulating, he rumbled as well. It’s time for church all for Laura to come up with her work excuse just as she has always done. 

*Darling, just give me ten more minutes. I dressed up the kids already so when I’m done, I’ll come downstairs,* Laura muted her phone’s microphone for just three seconds to take permission from her husband. 

Mr Rice, a senior colleague to Laura noticed that Laura muted her microphone and something else was going on in the video. 
As the meeting secretary, he noted down everything including the actions of everyone while the meeting was going on. 

*Mrs Laura, can you please go on with your presentation?,* Laura was cut off guard. She was already carried away by the conversation she was having with her husband. 
Immediately, she turned her face back to the camera to continue her presentation.

*It would have been better if they pay you all some extra money for your weekend meetings but they don’t. So, what’s the point of the meeting that doesn’t yield any profit?,* Laura’s husband who finds it difficult to control his anger began to yell and make sorts of complaints. 
Yet, she tried to calm him down and all of that can happen after the meeting ends. 

At the start of Laura’s Monday shift, she found an envelope on her desk. 

*Hello Mrs Laura, here is a letter as regards to your complaint about your current salary. You are hereby invited to the board of directors office by 12:00 pm for a brief meeting about your current salary status,* what complaint? Laura mused about when she ever said that but there was no time when she ever made a complaint about her salary. 

She was so eager for the meeting time so that she can defend herself and say to the board of directors that she never complained about her salary status. She put on her suit jacket which she previously hung on her seat and headed to the office for the meeting.

*We heard it. We heard when you and your husband were pondering on your current salary when we were having our virtual meeting on Sunday,* then, Laura recollected when her husband said that to her. 

*Oh my God! I didn’t even say that. It was my husband and I begged him not to talk but…* Laura became short of words. Truly, she didn’t like her salary status at work but she’s finding it very difficult to say it to her boss. If she dares to say it, she may either lose her job or win the case and her salary will be increased. 

How did that even happen? How did they hear what he was saying? I thought I muted my microphone so how did that happen? Even though all of these thoughts were swirling in her mind, the most important thing is that she doesn’t want to lose her job. 

*Here is my decision. Truly, Miss Laura has been working with us for about seven years now and her salary has never been increased, I hereby increase your salary by thirty percent. Not only that, you will be given the role of the senior human resource officer,* Laura was expecting to get fired from work but to her surprise, the chief executive officer finds her husband’s  complaints valid and he actually increased her salary.

*Thank you very much for appreciating my efforts, sir,* Laura couldn’t wait to get out of the office and call her husband. 

*Hey hubby. Thank you very much. Would you believe that when you were talking about my salary on Sunday, my bosses heard even while I thought I was on mute? Now, they have increased my salary by thirty percent,* joyfully, her husband screams on the phone and congratulated her. 

With the thirty percent salary increase, Laura’s lifestyle upgraded a bit and she was able to live a more comfortable life even than before.
