An update and some words on OCD+OCDB activities
It's been a hell of a couple few months since the hardfork, I feel like so much is happening on chain that not only doesn't it reflect on the price but it feels like there is constantly something to do and new opportunities arising. But adapt we must.

We at @ocd have tried our best to use our voting power to spread out to deserving content and find authors who lack the acknowledgment and visibility they should have. We have also tried to use our downvote mana wisely, for some time outsourced it but each time tried to make the most out of it for the betterment of Steem. I realize it may cause a lot of controversy cause let's face it no one likes downvotes and if we could we would not want to use them either but it's been proven that without them the way rewards are distributed has not been fair nor efficient so in a way using our downvote mana is making all our other upvotes and the good upvotes of all other accounts way more efficient and we will keep using it on content we feel is overrewarded for the effort and quality no matter who is posting it.

At the same time we've been co-operating with other curation projects on curating their best posts they find and attempting to do our part at onboarding and starting some communities we believe will play a big role in the future of blockchain. One of them being Gods Unchained which I'm sure many of you have noticed and some of you have found to not be worthy of receiving funding through post rewards. We understand that to many who are not interested in gaming or understand the point of them this may seem like we are doing something _bad_ for Steem or the rewardpool but rest assured that all the rewards that have been collected through posts have gone out to participants which there have been a lot of new accounts being introduced to Steem of. While I am not here to try and defend how we are using our voting power - I hope the majority of the community realize that similar to how it has been in the past, we will always look out to do what is best for Steem and not what is best for us directly in terms of rewards nor attention (voting up funding posts late as to not hog up trending, for instance). We have always strived for transparency and through the blockchain it is easy to detect that all funds are being used the way we state they will.

Having said that our initial plans to grow a tipping pool from 5% of the curation rewards of @ocdb seemed to just be stuck on our @ocdbfund account and we figured we could use it to kickstart the godsunchained community by purchasing Rare chests and Tournament Passes for the big $500k tournament prize pool that is yet to be held. Our community has grown a lot since we started with over 50 Gods Unchained players in the OCD server and many posting GU content on Steem. Aside @ocdbfunding we have also used @teamocd to grow through beneficiaries and donations from Steemians who wanted to help fund future tournament prizes. We have given away over 3k Steem in Steem and Rare chests so far and are looking to grow the community even more and are awaiting eagerly for the communities feature to be implemented so that everyone can use it and start their communities.

We recently also wrote a post about that on my account titled "communities" where you can read more about our interests of becoming a Community Incubator where we assist promising communities with voting power to grow their userbase. Please check it out if you are planning a community and think we could be of assistance to it, bear in mind that we'd have to be in agreement of its potential/growth before we decide to assist you.

Similar as there with the rest of Steem everything depends on the eye of the beholder and our past experiences. Many may not realize how big of a thing esports is in this day and age and especially combined with blockchain tech to understand our efforts in growing the Gods Unchained community and that is okay with us, similar to downvotes and upvotes we can't please everyone and not everyone will agree with our activities. It's kind of like post rewards where consensus is first set after the post rewards have gone through, anything before that is just pending rewards. What is important is what the majority think and how they perceive it moving forward but also remember what we stood for in the past and how we have done things and that our vision has not changed. To make Steem one of the best distributed cryptocurrencies and welcome each and everyone onto our censorship resistant platform where they don't have to rely on adrevenue or fear of getting demonetized due to that.

Anyway this became way longer than I expected, I had to change the title of this post just now from "a short update on ocd+ocdb activities" to what it is now.

Last but not least, we want to apologize for the late payouts on @ocdb, we don't want to spam send out memos to all delegators so we hope they may read these or @anomadsoul's posts and know what's going on. Rest assured all calculations are still being accounted for on our website and we recently got an investor who will invest SP into @ocdb so that our powerdowns are self-sufficient and won't pressure our other accounts to powerdown liquids into it for the payouts. You can check how much @ocdb owes you at thegoodwhales.com on the delegator page.

Thanks for your continued support and trust, we have been working hard and will continue to do so on what we think is best for Steem and are always open to suggestions. Thanks for reading.

"So Much happening on the Chain" yet I somewhat feel like nothing is happening. I guess like you said, the price is not reflecting that which is leading to alot of frustrations. At least we had some gains this last couple of hours when everything else was tanking :)

Of all that steem you are giving away, how much is getting dumped, and how much powered up?

If it is all getting dumped, you are not 'helping'.
Imo.

One's short term gains are another one's longterm treasure but never receiving the rewards to begin with and the authors providing the content not be able to make the decision on if they want to power up or not is another thing. We tried for two years only giving authors a 10% cut while investors were making most of it by selling their stake, didn't seem to work out much better so distribution and a somewhat working PoB could be better. Let's see what the earners decide to do with their stake.

>We tried for two years only giving authors a 10% cut while investors were making most of it by selling their stake,

Can you expand on this?
I got here in august '16, and my memory must be fuzzy.

I agree that wider distribution is desirable, I even think that keeping the price this low is a good thing, I just don't want to see one more attempt at doing good only fueling the lowering of the price further.

I don't see this attempt helping the folks I've been supporting, either.
I can only presume that this is a wider problem than just on my feed.

The less the large stakeholders take, the more the small stakeholders help out their friends, eh?

If everybody stopped voting posts destined to have more than 2stu, with more than inconsequential dust votes, the distribution goes to our currently targeted demographic, newbs.
As it is, we dog pile the already have too much's, imo.

When a newb can start posting and not get boinked day after day by the dust broom, we will know our success.

Actually I do not agree with your project, if the idea behind HF21 (well it depends on who you talk to to start even thinking what the idea behind it was) but one of the main ideas was to increase manual curation, unfortunately OCDB does nothing like that what we have is a few people deciding where a large amount of delegated SP should go, I believe this should be each SP owners choice. I am against downvoting but if you individually believe something should be downvoted again that is your decision go for it, but don't take a whole trail along for the down vote let each decide what he likes or not. As for reward values this is a very touchy space just two or three days ago I posted an article with some original photos of a lot of birds quite nice I think, someone else posted a bunch of photos of a lot of rocks also nice, my birds got about 0.40 the rocks about $35.00, let's face it both were shit posts they should have earned about the same maybe $0.40 was about right, yet one of them was upvoted by some of you big guys (I am not really sure if you or OCDB upvoted those rocks). Is this where you get the idea that things are getting better?

If you don't like downvoters trailing other downvoters you should also not like upvoters trailing other upvoters, in both cases nothing you can do about it. The amount of votes never mattered, the strength did.

Yup, shitposts and their rewards are subjective and can fluctuate quite a lot.

I don't like either one, curation should be manual and based on merit or let's just cut the hypocrisy about voting for quality posts which are mighty few on Steemit, by the way most of the trending posts are low quality put there by autovotes and are not downvoted, doesn't sound like something that is working OK.

Since the last HF i saw a dramatic change at the payouts of creatives. Artists that got a few cents are now nicely rewarded and keep posting better and better posts. You @acidyo and the OCD team are the only ones who are actually doing sth to improve the ecosystem of Steem. The onboarding program was a very good idea, aside the fact that is really tough to invite new users i think it would be successful when the circumstances change a bit. The GU also very good and in my mind it shows an example of how Steem could work in the future to promote projects or games. About the downvotes, it is only logical to expect reactions but if someone takes a closer look at the downvoted posts will see that most of them are actually deserved it. Stay strong, you have a lot of trust and support from the community:)

I am hoping there will be heaps of communities from all over the internet and other chains looking to use Steem as the home for their group efforts and potentially to add tokenization layers on top of their experience. I think gaming communities would love the gamified forum too.
