**¡Saludos, Hive! Hoy vengo a hablarles de mi mejor amigo, Biscocho, un poodle de 10 meses de edad.**

Biscocho llegó a mi casa cuando tenía 2 meses de edad, y dos meses después de que mi primera mascota, Brandy (de quién hablaré en otro post) muriera. Es un perro realmente alegre, gracioso y travieso. Su primer día aquí lo único que hizo fue dormir, pero al siguiente día, ya sintiéndose en confianza, comenzó a jugar y jugar sin parar, y fue cuándo descubrió su mayor entretenimiento: mis zapatos. Su juego favorito es quitarme los zapatos y salir corriendo por toda la casa para que lo persiga. Curiosamente, el no muerde ni daña los zapatos, lo único que hace es jugar con ellos cuándo corre.

>Biscocho arrived at home when he was 2 months old, and 2 months after my first pet, Brandy (who I’m going to talk about in another post) passed away. He’s a joyful, funny and mischievous dog. His first day here the only thing he did was sleeping, but next day, he started to non-stopping play, and then he discovered his biggest entertainment: my shoes. His favorite game is to steal my shoes and start running around the house with me chasing him. Curiously, he doesn’t do any harm to the shoes; he just plays with them when he runs.

**Cuando lo vi llegar lo primero que hice fue ponerme a llorar, porque como dije, mi mascota anterior había muerto hace no mucho, y su perdida me afectó enormemente, tenía miedo de encariñarme de nuevo con otra mascota y perderla también. Pero luego pensé que este cachorro no tenía la culpa de nada de lo que había pasado y se merecía que lo amara incondicionalmente.**

**When I first saw him arrive I immediately started to cry, as I said before, my former pet had died no too long ago, and her lost deeply affected me, I was afraid to develop an affection to another pet and then lost it too. But then I realized that this puppy had nothing to do with the things that happened and he deserved to be unconditionally loved.**

Y así fue, me dediqué a cuidarlo, llevarlo al veterinario, vacunarlo, darle vitaminas, sacarlo a pasear todos los días, jugar con él, enseñarle algunos trucos básicos, y obviamente a amarlo mucho. No hay un momento del día en el que no esté conmigo, y cuando no lo está, es porque probablemente está durmiendo en alguna posición graciosa en su cama o en el piso. Como aún es un perro joven, es muy curioso y le tiene miedo a muchas cosas (carros, motos, ruidos muy fuertes) pero también es un perro muy amistoso. Le gustan las personas y otros perros, cada vez que ve otro perro (no importa el tamaño) el solamente quiere jugar. Es bastante inteligente y aprende con relativa facilidad lo que trato de enseñarle, aunque, por ser el alfa de su camada, suele ser bastante temperamental.

>And that’s how it was; I dedicated myself to take care of him, taking it to the vet, vaccinated him, give him vitamins, having rides with him every day, play with him, teach him some basic tricks, and obviously love him a lot. There isn’t a moment that he isn’t next to me, and when he doesn’t, he’s probable sleeping in some funny position. As he’s still a young dog, he’s really curious but also it’s afraid about many things (cars, motorcycles, strong noises) but he’s also a really friendly dog. He likes people and gets along pretty nice with other dogs, in fact, it doesn’t matter the size, everytime he always sees another dog he just wants to play with him. He’s really smart and he learns relatively easy when I’m teaching him, though he can be kind of temperamental because he’s the alpha dog of his breed.

A través de mis mascotas he aprendido a amar y respetar a los animales. Estoy totalmente en contra del maltrato animal, y he aprendido que la humanización es una forma de maltrato. No soy un experto, pero creo que es importante respetar a nuestras mascotas por lo que son: seres vivos que de alguna manera si dependen de nosotros, pero también debemos dejar que tengan individualidad y que actúen como lo que son: perros. He conocido gente que no entiende esto y eso solo le hace daño al animal en cuestión, se vuelven inseguros, temerosos, ansiosos, y en general se desequilibran bastante emocionalmente. No digo esto como una crítica, pero todos queremos que nuestros amigos peludos tengan la mejor vida posible, y a veces no nos damos cuenta que el amor desmedido sin sentido los puede dañar.

>Through my pets I have learned to love and respect animals. I’m totally against animal harm, and I’ve realized that humanization is a type of harm. I’m not an expert, but I think it’s important we respect our pets for what they are: living beings that, in a way, depend on us, but we also have to let them have individuality and let them act as dogs. I’ve met people that don’t understand that and they are harming the animal in a way, they became unsecure, scary, anxious, and in general lines they unbalance emotionally speaking. I’m not criticizing anyone, but we all want our fluffy friends to have the best possible life, and sometimes we don’t realize that an out of boundaries love can harm them.
