Lets learn about a famous author - Information for little ones

<h2>Today we will learn more about a very famous writer.  Her name is Beatrice Potter and she wrote the well known book &#x27;The Tale of Peter Rabbit&#x27;.</h2>

<p>Have you not read the book?  Lets learn a bit more about the author and then you can listen to the reading of the book.</p>
<p>In 1866 a little girl name Beatrix were born.  She and her brother and parents lived on a farm.  The children was lucky enough to have a lot of animals which they kept as pets, even strange animals like hedgehogs, frogs and bats.</p>
<p>Her brother would draw pictures of the different animals but Beatrice had a very good imagination of different animals doing different things and she would draw what she &#x27;saw&#x27; in her imagination.</p>
<p>When Beatrice was done with school, she went and studied about dinosaurs and different animals, but she liked studying about mushrooms the most.</p>
<p>When she wanted to make some extra money, she would draw pictures on cards or write little stories in the letters she wrote to her friends.  She would also draw some pictures in the letter.  One day she wrote a letter to a friend of her that had a little boy and in it she told the story of Peter Rabbit.</p>
<blockquote>She decided to make the story into a book. The Tale of Peter Rabbit was published in 1902 – and it
<br/>was a great success! She wrote, illustrated and published many more books. She also created dolls,
<br/>painting books, games and other items based on her characters
</blockquote>
<p>She bought her own farm and started farming - she loved living out in the country and she wanted to make sure that a lot of land was protected, so she started buying the farms around her.  She loved nature and she made sure that she protected it and also taught others about protecting nature.</p>

When Beatrix died, she left almost all her farms and land to the National Trust, a charity which
 protects historic places and landscapes. You can even visit Hill Top Farm today, which is exactly like
 it was when Beatrix lived there!
