Think of when you go to the shop. You trade money for the goods/food or items you want. You can also trade on item/good for another item. You give your friend a sandwich and he gives you an apple. You can even trade service for service or goods for service.</p> <h2>What is the difference between a good and a service? </h2> <p>A good is a product, something you can touch like bread and milk. A service is something that a person does for you like cutting your hair or teaching you.</p> <p><em><strong>Name 5 goods and 5 services you can think of.</strong></em></p> <p>Usually, people or countries trade things that they have too much of for things that they don't have enough of. So if a country has a lot of coffee, but they do not grow their own apples, they can trade with other countries.</p> <p>This we call import and export. If you bring something into your country you import it and when you send it out of your country to another one, you export it.</p> <p> Why would a country have too much of something? If it is food like vegetables or fruit, it can be that they planted more than enough for the people of the country and then still have left over. The ground is maybe very fertile and a lot of fruit and vegetables grow in a certain area. It can also be that there is less people that buy/eat the vegetables and fruits and now there is left over.</p> <p>If it is a product that was made in a factory, it can be because the owner wants to export the products because he makes money, so he decides to produce more of what he makes.</p> <p>Whatever the reason, the moment you trade with other areas or countries, you make extra money.</p> <blockquote>This, at its simplest level, is trade: exchanging one thing for another. </blockquote> <p> Through all the ages people have traded things with other people to make sure they have what they need or want.</p> <p>Is there a difference between what you need and want?</p> <p>A lot of things except food is traded. Machinery, oil, cars, plastics, and electronics are all examples of things that one country can produce to sell, exchange, or give to another countries. </p> <blockquote>Nearly every single day, trade keeps civilizations prospering.
