After spending 3 days of playing this free game released by Activision, I'll let you know how good it really is and whether it is worth your time.

Call of Duty Warzone is the franchises's latest , released on March 10th 2020. It features a battle royale style of game-play with as much as 150 players dropping in to fight for survival.

The game mechanics are pretty similar to Call of Duty games in the past, so if you've played one of the earlier titles the gun spray and grenade usage will feel quite at home for you. But what if you haven't? Then no need to worry, the game has a practice mode where you can do all the firing you want before you get ready to battle. 

The ping system works on both enemy and items. Grenades that were launched near you will stun you for a few seconds, vision is blurred and your ability to hear is muffled for some time. I also particularly liked the engaging soundtrack and the visually serious theme of the game.

There are two main type of game modes to choose from - Battle Royale and Plunder. Each one of them have sub modes as well.

# Battle Royale
This is where you can either play as a Quad team, a Trio team or Solo play and try to eliminate all the others to survive and win the game. One thing I really liked was the fact that you could get ready for battle really quick with top weapons being easy to find. You main loadout can only contain a primary weapon and a secondary one.

With additional slots only for shields, grenades and other accesories. The game is fast paced and I found myself getting into the fight as soon as 2 minutes into the round.

One interesting twist that Warzone throws at you is the way the knockdown works. Once you are knocked out of the game, you still have a chance to fight your way back. The game will put you into a 1v1 with another downed player in a prison called the Gulag. Here if you win the 1v1, you will be placed back into the main action along with your team mates. It's a nice feature where you can get back in to the main game using your own skills rather than relying on your team mates.

Didn't win the 1v1 ? Don't worry your team mates can still buy your way in by spending $4500 at a spawn station. This way you are not taken out of action just a few minutes into the game. This also means that team mates don't have to risk it to come to the spot where you were knocked, they could run off to a safer area, collect money and revive you back. Some might think that this will unnecessarily prolong the battle but with the gas keeping the safe zone tighter and tighter the fights really intensify.

# Plunder
In this mode the aim is to collect as much cash as possible and the first team to attain 1 million dollars wins the game. You get unlimited respawn in the game. A fun mode if you ask me.

There are also several mini games as your play your battle royale game that keeps you constantly in the move.

Overall if you have played Call of Duty Modern Warfare you will find the game mechanics quite at home. And even the map will feel natural to you as several locations are inspired from past Call of Duty maps.

The game has only one map at the moment and is called Verdansk. It features several types of terrain ranging from flat lands, hill tops to urban high rise buildings. This ensures many varieties of gun fights throughout the game as the safe zone moves.

Overall as an Apex Legends, CS Go and Fortnite player I thoroughly enjoyed this different take on the battle royale game-play and the innovative addition put in by Activision. It rate it an 8/10 and I assure you it is well worth your time and will keep you engaged for hours.
