The bird ate my cookie

Holidays, days off, the flu, no gym and all that extra time mean – 3kg up. To some blessed of you who don’t have such problems … what can I say? … I envy you. I on the other hand have to only hold a dirty dish, step on a greasy paper or simply walk by the fridge to gain weight.

Last week I started gym again and after almost 4 weeks it felt like I was there for the first time. My muscles were sore for the next 3 days. I felt like a pussy and a bit pissed. So this weekend I added some hiking to the mix to get back on the horse faster.

We started with the morning coffee. Well … I had the coffee he had the cookie.

Ironically the best meals of my life (regarding eating out) are right on top of that hill. I don’t know what exactly makes it so good. They usually serve traditional Slovene food - which is not something you would write home to your mother. Maybe it’s the hike or the air … but the food tastes divine.

The view isn’t that bad either.

The sun was very welcomed on Saturday … but I must say … the fogy atmosphere on Sunday was even better.

Believe me or not. Only thing i ate on Šmarna gora are "miške" don't know English translation. They are greasy, sweet and totally bad for health, but i still take one or two if they have fresh :D 

And yes ... food on hiking trips does taste awesome. It's probably the combination - air, altitude, atmosphere and still great food in most of the mountain huts... 

Did you try štruklji on Dobrča? :) The hike is worth it just for that and if it's clear weather, the view from the top is amazing.

Yes usually what ppl eat there.....me and my friend go up later so we are on for lunch. No need to cook then. And i love food. :) ...and never been on Dobrča. I'm not a hiker. :) But my friend is, so what heppens is she usually takes me or i tag along. But I will suggest this to her. She will go for the hike, I'll go for the food lol. Maybe after all this snow clears.

Heard it was the worst flu outbreak in 50 years. I think they weren't wrong because I also had the flu(for 2 freaking weeks) and last time I was sick happened more than 8 years ago.

...yup...i was on sick leave for almost 2 weeks too. We had a small epidemic in our country....I get sick once per year..and usually same time too. But then again working in a school u pick up stuff more often and ty! :)

Slovenia is very hilly...meaning hills all over....christianity here was strong and what they did is build a church on every hill...every sunday people would march the hills to get to the mass...purge walk. I even did a few when i was a kid with my grandmother (she was a woman of habits and very religious). So lots of hills....lots of churches. I think it was Mary with Jesus on that monument (since the church on top is named: chapel of virgin Mary. The monuments served as stops for prayer.

What an amazing view. I love brick and stone construction, too. 

And I appreciate the history lesson. So, there are villages around all of the hills? Do mean that people march to the nearest church or that for the purge walk they have to go to *all* of the churches in one day?
