**SOY MUSICO Y PRODUCTOR MUSICAL
El principio.**

Nací en Cumaná estado Sucre, en el año 1976. Mi nombre es Augusto Córdova y vengo de una familia de artistas, carpinteros, maestros, enfermeras, pintores y muchísima música.
A mi padre le gustaba cantar y mi madre es una melómana sin cura. Los amigos de mi papá en su mayoría eran músicos y cuando venían a la casa la parranda con serenatas era inevitable. Sin embargo, la responsable de que en casa hubiera un fondo musical permanente era mi madre, quien amaba escuchar la radio todo el día, una radio que jamás apagaba.

Ver a mi padre cantar recostado en su sillón o cuando se reunía con sus amigos era muy inspirador, él se convirtió en mi primera influencia artística. Por otro lado mi madre se empeñó en que aprendiera a tocar un instrumento, así que me enseño mis primeros acordes con un CUATRO (instrumento venezolano) que teníamos en casa y al cabo de unos años me inscribió en la Orquesta Sinfónica donde aprendí lenguaje musical.

En los tempranos noventa entré a la Estudiantina Del Estado Sucre, una pequeña orquesta folclórica formada por estudiantes de secundaria. Allí aprendí a tocar guitarra y al mismo tiempo descubrí lo interesante de los conciertos y presentaciones en vivo, algo que mas a delante se volvería una pasión.
Formar parte de una agrupación me forjó realmente como músico, la disciplina de aprender las canciones, los ensayos, los procesos creativos… todo era un mundo extraordinario donde podía soñar y tener la libertad de expresarme a través de la música, pero mas particularmente la adrenalina de estar en el escenario frente al publico me daba ese golpe de corriente que te despierta el amor por lo que haces. Así entendí que amaba la música y todo lo que hay detrás de un concierto.

The beginning.

> I was born in Cumaná, Sucre state, in 1976. My name is Augusto Córdova and I come from a family of artists, carpenters, teachers, nurses, painters and a lot of music.
My father liked to sing and my mother is a hopeless music lover. Most of my dad's friends were musicians and when they came to the house the party with serenades was inevitable. However, the person responsible for the permanent musical background at home was my mother, who loved listening to the radio all day, a radio that she never turned off.

> Seeing my father sing leaning back in his armchair or when he met with his friends was very inspiring, he became my first artistic influence. On the other hand, my mother insisted that I learn to play an instrument, so she taught me my first chords with a CUATRO (Venezuelan instrument) that we had at home and after a few years she enrolled me in the Symphony Orchestra where I learned musical language.

> In the early 1990s, I joined the Estudiantina Del Estado Sucre, a small folkloric orchestra made up of high school students. There I learned to play the guitar and at the same time I discovered how interesting concerts and live performances are, something that later on would become a passion.
Being part of a group really forged me as a musician, the discipline of learning the songs, the rehearsals, the creative processes... everything was an extraordinary world where I could dream and have the freedom to express myself through music, but more particularly the adrenaline being on stage in front of the public gave me that jolt of electricity that awakens your love for what you do. That's how I understood that I loved music and everything behind a concert.*

**El desenlace.**

Los noventas fue una época muy activa musicalmente, todos los fines de semana habían pequeños conciertos de rock en la ciudad. Prácticamente crecí viendo de cerca estas bandas de rock, ya que a unos pocos metros de mi casa ensayaban los Buthán, una de las bandas pioneras del Glam Rock de mi ciudad natal. Entraba a sus ensayos y era como un concierto VIP donde podía apreciar todo la magia. Me apasionó enormemente y procuraba asistir a todos esos conciertos
Ver en escena a bandas como Renacimiento, Relleno Sanitario, Punto Rojo, Espejos del Alma, me acerco poco a poco a querer formar parte de una banda de rock. 
Ese deseo se cumplió en mis tiempos de universitario, época en la que audicioné como guitarrista para algunas bandas de la ciudad de Puerto La Cruz y Cumaná. 
Entre una banda de rock y otra fui pasando de la guitarra al bajo haciendo de este último mi instrumento base. Durante algunos años participe en diferentes proyectos como músico y colaborador en bandas como La Base, Elemento Neutro, Tráfico, La May Tuya, Pox, Salida De Emergencia, Los Futres, Edú Pilar Y Los Uveros De San Luis, Sui Quacka, Zetafonica, entre otras. Esta última marcó en mi vida, como músico un antes y un después.

> *Outcome.

> The nineties was a very active time musically, every weekend there were small rock concerts in the city. I practically grew up watching these rock bands up close, since a few meters from my house the Buthán rehearsed, one of the pioneering Glam Rock bands from my hometown. I went into their rehearsals and it was like a VIP concert where I could appreciate all the magic. I was very passionate about it and tried to attend all those concerts
Seeing bands like Renacimiento, Relleno Sanitario, Punto Rojo, and Espejos del Alma on stage, I gradually come closer to wanting to be part of a rock band.

> That wish was fulfilled in my college days, when I auditioned as a guitarist for some bands in the city of Puerto La Cruz and Cumaná.
Between one rock band and another I went from guitar to bass, making the latter my basic instrument. For some years I participated in different projects as a musician and collaborator, bands like La Base, Elemento Neutro, Tráfico, La May Tuya, Pox, Exit Emergency, Los Futres, Edú Pilar Y Los Uveros De San Luis, Sui Quacka, Zetafonica, among others. This last one marks in my life, as a musician, a before and after.

**Proyecto Z.**

Zetafonica fue un proyecto que marco en mí un punto de inflexión, donde realmente me vi involucrado como músico, creativo y productor. De este proyecto se desprende un disco titulado “Lado A”, disco que recibió excelentes criticas tanto en Cumaná como en otras ciudades del país. Desde que la conformamos los Hermanos Paublini y yo en el 2008, la frenesí musical era imparable. Dimos conciertos, entrevistas, hicimos obras teatrales, programas de radio y muchas horas de composición y experimentos.
Pero componer y grabar el disco me coloco en otro universo que también me atraparía: La producción musical.
El disco fue coproducido y mezclado por Rodrigo Cabrera, un extraordinario músico de quien aprendí muchas cosas sobre producir y mezclar una obra fonográfica. Esa experiencia me inspiró a querer estar detrás de todo el proceso de producción de una canción y porque no un disco. Así que nos pusimos a trabajar en un segundo álbum pero la muerte repentina de nuestro baterista Gustavo Paublini nos dejo suspendidos en el aire.
Con la banda Zetafonica y el proyecto Sui Quacka hicimos varios conciertos relacionados al álbum “Lado A” y a la música de la mítica banda Pink Floyd, banda de rock que nos influenció enormemente en esos tiempos. Amé estar en los escenarios y formar parte del equipo de trabajo, el montaje y organización de un espectáculo. Una maravillosa experiencia.

> *Project Z.

> Zetafonica was a project that marked a turning point for me, where I was really involved as a musician, creative and producer. An album entitled “Lado A” came out of this project, an album that received excellent reviews both in Cumaná and in other cities of the country. Since the Paublini Brothers and I formed it in 2008, the musical frenzy was unstoppable. We gave concerts, interviews, stage plays, radio programs and many hours of composition and experiments.
But composing and recording the album placed me in another universe that would also catch me: Music production.
> The album was co-produced and mixed by Rodrigo Cabrera, an extraordinary musician from whom I learned many things about producing and mixing a phonographic work. That experience inspired me to want to be behind the entire production process of a song and why not an album. So we got to work on a second album but the sudden death of our drummer Gustavo Paublini left us hanging in the air.
With the band Zetafonica and the Sui Quacka project, we did several concerts related to the album “Lado A” and the music of the legendary band Pink Floyd, a rock band that greatly influenced us at the time. I loved being on stage and being part of the work team, the assembly and organization of a show. A wonderful experience.*

**Las Tablas.**

Subí a muchos escenarios como bares, hoteles, casinos, teatros y hasta participe junto a la banda Tráfico en un Festival Nuevas Bandas, festival que se realiza en Venezuela para captar y hacer visibles, nacionalmente a bandas emergentes de diferentes regiones del país.
Pero durante un tiempo estuve coqueteando con la idea de hacer unos pequeños conciertos producidos por mí y ponerme a prueba como organizador y “front-man” con músicos y artistas invitados. De esa idea salieron tres conciertos: “Cantemos Canciones De Franco I y II” y “Pulsar”.
Los dos primeros fueron dedicados a la obra del cantante y compositor venezolano Franco De Vita y contó con la participación de destacados músicos y vocalistas de Cumaná como David Pacheco, Ricardo Silva, Leandro Briceño, Fátima Matías, Kleith Castro, Alejandro Real, Jose M. Duca, “Neneco” Segura, Mayluis Brito, Kiriam Betancourt, Daniel Segura y Jakelin Bravo. El tercero “Pulsar”, un concierto tributo al gran Gustavo Cerati y que se realizo en el Teatro Maria Rodriguez, un emblemático teatro que tiene un aforo para un poco mas de 300 personas; lo lleve a cabo con la banda Los Ordinarios y contó con la participación de vocalistas de otras bandas como Héctor Granado (F.U.M.O.), Jess (Apix) y Daniel Vanderdijs (Dkumana). No puedo dejar de mencionar a Antonieta Mora quien fue nuestra corista.
Fue todo un aprendizaje el haber organizado y producido estos tres eventos, una experiencia que involucra arreglos, ensayos, publicidad, diseño gráfico y mucho esfuerzo, voluntad y amor por lo que haces, pero que al final del día te llena de mucha satisfacción de que el poder tener el impulso de llevar adelante un proyecto como el montaje de un concierto, tiene sus méritos públicos y personales.

**Producción.**

Después de los conciertos me tomé un tiempo para la familia pero sin desconectarme de la música. Aproveché ese tiempo para escuchar muchas obras musicales y desarrollar un oído musical amplio y crítico. Armé un pequeño estudio en casa donde me dedique a practicar y aprender mucho sobre producción musical, mezcla y master. Me inscribí en un programa de formación de Berklee Colege of Music sobre producción musical y me auto produje un tema llamado “Vamos Bien”, canción que está desde entonces en Spotify y otras plataformas importantes de música en streaming. En ese pequeño espacio se fundó Artefacto Studio, casa productora que ya cuenta con tres años de actividad y un catalogo de producciones en las que destacan “Vamos Bien” (Augusto Córdova 2019), “Sin Café” (Indeleble 2020), “Ella” (Witin 2020), “Dulce” (Sio Salmerón 2020), “Ojos Amarillos” (Edwards Tobia 2021) y “Que Te Vaya Bueno” (J-Arkam 2022).
A pesar de que me apasionan los escenarios, trabajar en el estudio es mi lado pasivo y experimental, acompañar al artista en su recorrido por la producción de su obra es muy interesante y sobre todo gratificante, porque te encuentras teniendo la responsabilidad del acabado final de la canción o disco y la consecuente satisfacción del artista con el que trabajas. Y es que el trabajo como productor es una tarea, a pesar de todo muy laboriosa, pero que al mismo tiempo es un viaje emocionante por la idea del artista; una visita a su propio mundo interior.
Como productor Musical he descubierto nuevos universos dentro de la música, ver la anatomía de una canción me resulta fascinante y extraordinario, entender como realmente funciona todo desde la composición, la grabación, luego la mezcla y el master final, una cadena de procedimientos necesarios e importantes para que una canción alcance su mas alto potencial. Me especialice en Logic Pro y es el DAW con el que trabajo actualmente y con el que me he sentido muy cómodo. Tengo mi propia plantilla de trabajo y ya he alcanzado mi propia firma sonora al mezclar una canción. Ser productor musical me apasiona mucho y se ha convertido para mí en un estilo de vida.

And it is that work as a producer is a task, despite everything very laborious, but at the same time it is an exciting journey through the artist's idea; a visit to your own inner world.
As a music producer I have discovered new universes within music, seeing the anatomy of a song is fascinating and extraordinary to me, understanding how everything really works from the composition, the recording, then the mix and the final master, a chain of necessary procedures and important for a song to reach its highest potential. I specialized in Logic Pro and it is the DAW that I currently work with and with which I have felt very comfortable. I have my own work template and I have already achieved my own sound signature when mixing a song. I am very passionate about being a music producer and it has become a lifestyle for me.*

**El cierre.**

Todas las vivencias, evidentemente no caben en un blog, pero ya tendrán la oportunidad de saber mas sobre estos conciertos y cada una de las producciones a las que hice mención. Por ahora solo resta despedirme, sin antes agradecer a todas las personas que de manera directa e indirecta formaron parte de este viaje personal, que me acompañaron en todos esos momentos y de quienes recibí mucho aprendizaje y afecto. esperando que les haya parecido interesante este breve recorrido por mi vida como Músico y Productor me despido emocionado de recordar todos estos capítulos que son muy importantes para mí.
