Our phones have become an integral part of our lives. Before smart phones became rampart like it is now, most of us had little or nothing to do with our phones except making calls and answering them when necessary or texting people to pass across relevant information to them. But as the years roll by and times evolves coupled with the invention and randomness of smart phones. We have no choice than to have smart phones as an integral part of our lives.

My smart phone to me is not just any device or a device for luxury. It is my office, it is where I eat from and where I work. For someone who does not have an offline office where I go to work, I survive by being online and creating contents. For example on hive. Hive is a bit demanding for those of us that like to engage with people and comment on posts and also engage on the various discords of the communities, you find out that we just have to be close to our phones.

I don’t know if I can stay away from my phone for an hour. This is because virtually everything I do is on my phone. For example everyday, I try to make a to do list on what I need to do for the day. I pray every morning Mondays to Friday. I have a group prayer to attend to by 6am and from there to NSPPD by 7am. After NDPPD, I do my daily devotional and bible reading all on my phone. Sometimes I listen to audio Bible on my phone or listen to music on my phone while cooking or preparing breakfast. 

While I am eating, I watch YouTube or see a movie on the phone. I get updates from the real estate companies I work for and all the numerous Whatsap groups I belong to on the phone. I am presently taking some language classes on my phone through the Duolingo app. When I want to create contents and make videos it’s still this same phone. So the question is how can I stay without the phone. 

I have different types of alarms set on my phone for different things that I need to do at different times. My phone is my time table reminder, it’s my companion and my office. I communicate with my family and friends still on this same phone. The funny thing is that why a lot of people literally spend their entire day on social media scrolling away and wasting time, my case is different. Most of what I have I do with my phone has to do with work or personal development.

I have come to depend so much on my phone that  I may implode if my phone is no where close. In all of this, I try to maintain a decent balance too because too much of everything is bad. So when it comes to using our mobile devices. Balance should be the watch word.
