I called this post - In the search for the wisdom of the ancestors, not because this wisdom should be sought, no, it is everywhere, but, many generations later, we stopped noticing it.

Now, such a time, that perhaps she, wisdom, is very useful to us.

Probably, like you, I often see discussions about how they will survive, in the event of a global crisis, after quarantine.

It worries everyone, including me.

In the evenings, gathering with the whole family, we discuss the topic in which direction we should move.

And, oddly enough, my family, accustomed to living in the city, is leaning toward the village.

My ancestors, originally from Altai. This is a harsh place, especially in winter.

They did not have a mobile connection, we wrote letters, but, everyone, were happy.

My grandfather hunted many lakes in the Altai Territory and stocked up a large number of birds.

Cow, goats, hens, geese and ducks, this is something that did not let you starve and miss in the boundless steppe.

But Altai is far away, and, as I said, the wisdom of our ancestors is everywhere.

I suggest going to a small village called Kolovert, which is not visible on the map, but, she is, she has been alive for many centuries.

It is difficult to say when, for the first time, people learned how to extract and use birch sap, from which a tasty drink is obtained, which was stored in the cellars, for a whole year.

After collecting the juice, the wounds on the tree, treated with an antiseptic and putty. After a year, the birch, again, will give its juice. But, periodically, the tree is given a rest. In such a year, juice is not taken from this tree.

Then, I found a lot of mushrooms, right in the village. They, no one collects. This is wild champignon. People are used to collecting those types of mushrooms that they know, but do not study new species.

This is irrational.

Among tree mushrooms, there are almost no poisonous mushrooms, and they can be used as food, but nobody collects them either.

One cow is able to feed the family, because, daily, it can produce 20 liters of milk. But, this is not just milk. This is also cottage cheese, hard cheeses, sour cream, cream and, what remains, whey goes to feed piglets, like, and waste cottage cheese.

Our ancestors used all the berries. They knew how to extract valuable from the insignificant, but, now, many berries, such as mountain ash, are simply decoration.

The northern part of our region is called Polesie. They told me that the locals eat hedgehogs there. They don’t argue about tastes, but I don’t want to use such wisdom, lol.

If, a cow, this is too troublesome occupation, then you can look in the direction of a smaller animal on a goat.

It is interesting that, even in heavily contaminated areas, goats produce very pure milk.

From goat milk, you can cook, everything that is prepared from cow's milk, but, he has a strange taste.

I try to study different options and different ways of life, our ancestors. I don’t know if this will be useful to me or not, but now, there’s such a time that it’s not a pity to spend on studying something new.
