Sobre las hojas de **oreganito** ví varias orugas alimentándose, más que alegría me produjeron preocupación. Las orugas acaban muy rápido con las cosechas, lo prudente es sacarlas de esos lugares donde invaden.

Sin embargo, ya conozco el proceso de estos insectos por tal motivo quise observar qué pasaría con ellas estando allí sobre las hojas. Obviamente, me propuse estar atenta, si el daño a mi planta se aceleraba pues las sacaría de ese lugar.

I saw several caterpillars feeding on the leaves of oreganito, more than joy they made me worry. The caterpillars kill the crops very quickly, the prudent thing to do is to remove them from those places where they invade.

However, I already know the process of these insects so I wanted to observe what would happen to them being there on the leaves. Obviously, I decided to be attentive, if the damage to my plant accelerated, I would remove them from that place.

El doce de Julio tomé la primera fotografía de las orugas. Su tamaño era de 1cm aproximadamente, esperé para conocer su tamaño mientras se alimentaba. Les cuento que esta oruga no crece mucho. El gusano, como lo llamamos comunmente come poco, si no son muchas orugas pueden dejarla sobre la planta para que disfruten de lo que vendrá más adelante.

On July 12th I took the first picture of the caterpillars. Its size was about 1cm, I waited to know its size while it was feeding. I tell you that this caterpillar does not grow much. The worm, as we commonly call it, eats little, if there are not many caterpillars you can leave it on the plant to enjoy what will come later.

Calculo que este tipo de oruga crece entre 1 1/2 y 2cm máximo. De acuerdo al tamaño adoptado pensé que podía tratarse de una mariposa pequeña o una polilla. Dudé, creí que no vería la metamorfosis del insecto. 

Mi esposo decía que no se trataba de una mariposa, él prefería sacarla de allí antes de que dañara la planta. Insistí y allí la deje por unos días más.

I estimate that this type of caterpillar grows between 1 1/2 and 2cm maximum. According to the size adopted I thought it could be a small butterfly or a moth. I hesitated, I thought I would not see the metamorphosis of the insect.

My husband said that it was not a butterfly, he preferred to take it out of there before it damaged the plant. I insisted and left it there for a few more days.

El 20 de Julio, pasado ocho días, la oruga se bajó de la planta y comenzó a explorar (supongo) el espeacio que sería su nueva posada. El conportamiento del insecto me hizo pensar que posiblemente era el momento para iniciar su transformación.

Eso creí pero no fue así. Recorrió varios espacios pero, no fue este día cuando se colgó.

On July 20, after eight days, the caterpillar got off the plant and began to explore (I guess) the space that would be its new home. The behavior of the insect made me think that it was possibly the moment to start its transformation.

I thought so, but it wasn't. It went through several spaces but, it was not this day when it hung itself.

El 25 de julio, cinco días después, la oruga buscó otra hoja o un espacio que soportara su cuerpo para diseñar su capullo. El lugar adecuado para ella fue una hoja de la planta de auyama. Allí quedé embelesada viendo lo que pretendía hacer la oruga.

Mi nieto estaba conmigo, él sentía temor, pasó a creer en la importancia de dejar la oruga en privacidad más sin embargo, insistí en ver todo. Matihas estaba emocionado y yo también ja,ja.

On July 25, five days later, the caterpillar looked for another leaf or a space that would support its body to design its cocoon. The right place for it was a leaf of the passion fruit plant. There I was enraptured watching what the caterpillar intended to do.

My grandson was with me, he was afraid, he came to believe in the importance of leaving the caterpillar in privacy but nevertheless, I insisted on seeing everything. Matihas was excited and so was I ha,ha.

Algo nuevo para mí en este proceso fue ver cuando la oruga lentamente formaba su crisálida y a la vez perdía la piel. Tuve la suerte de hacer las capturas con las cuales quedé asombrada. 

Conversando con Matihas, hacíamos conjeturas, ¿lo que queda dentro de la crisalida es el cuerpo verde de la oruga? Cuando estripamos un gusano notamos que el color de su sangre es verde ¿Será eso lo que se envuelve el capullo?

Something new for me in this process was to see when the caterpillar slowly formed its chrysalis and at the same time lost its skin. I was fortunate enough to make the captures with which I was amazed.

Talking with Matihas, we conjectured, is what remains inside the chrysalis the green body of the caterpillar? When we stripped a worm we noticed that the color of its blood is green, is that what is wrapped around the cocoon?

Seguimos haciendo el registro, el capullo de la mariposa monarca tardó 15 días en eclosionar, supuse que esta tardaría el mismo tiempo pero no, no fue así, tardó menos tiempo, ocho dias fueron suficientes para que naciera la hermosa **pavo real blanca**.
