My University days was filled with so much fun that I was fighting so hard to focus on my education. It wasn’t only about the distractions from my boyfriend alone but also the parties I had to attend so most times, I had to shuffle between my parties and my education trying to make sure that one doesn’t affect one but eventually, one affected one and my education got affected. 

*Why are they always telling us to sign our course form on time? We can always do it later, can’t we,?* I asked BamBam, an older student at my University to know the importance of signing our course form and especially signing it in time. 

*It’s very important and if we don’t sign the course form on time, we always pay an extra five thousand naira as the late fee. Well, I’m not really concerned about that because I can always figure out my stuffs,* BamBam said to me. 

As for me, I am this person who always feel calm when I am in the same shoes with someone.

*At least, I am not the only one who hasn’t signed my course form so that should not be a big deal,* I say to myself anytime I remember that I needed to sign the course form especially when my friends Yomi, Ezeh and Mary talk about it. 

One day, I headed to school because I was having a philosophy test and my lecturer, Mr Ogunyemi keeps to time which means that I have to get early to school. On getting to my faculty, I saw a lot of people mob the notice board. 

*What’s going on,?* I said to myself. I didn’t bother to ask anyone but moved close to the notice board and saw that the late fee for the course form registration and signing has begun and as a result of that, I’d be paying a sum of five thousand naira to be able to sign the course form. 

*Five thousand naira isn’t a lot of money for the late course form signing. I’d make the payment tomorrow,* I said to other people standing there, hissed and left the scene. I kept on telling myself that I was going to sign my course form tomorrow and when tomorrow comes, I’d procrastinate again until it was one week to our second semester examination. 
This time, I had no choice than to take the signing of my course form more seriously because I’d have to tender it at the examination centre before I gain access into the hall.

Then, I started perambulating the busary department to know the account number I’d be paying the late fee to. Luckily, I eventually met the bursar but it was another story entirely. I was told that the late fee registration has increased from five thousand naira to ten thousand naira. At that moment, I had just five thousand naira with me. We were a week away to the examination and it took me three days to source for the extra five thousand naira that I’d be paying for the course form. 

I started the registration as soon as I raised the money, I paid into the account number I was supposed to make the payment to. I expected myself to get the course form immediately I made the payment but no. It was a different ball game. I waited and kept on going to the bursar’s office everyday. At some point, I felt I may not be able to write the examination again because tomorrow is my examination and today, I still do not have a course form. 

*Have you gotten your course form?,* Yomi asked me. I could not tell the truth because I know the kind of friends I have. They were going to mock me if I tell them that I haven’t gotten my course form. They may also mock me so I had no choice than to lie. 

The examination day came. I saw some of my friends revising what they have read and some were sitting close to the examination hall so that they will enter quick but I was in the bursar’s office waiting to collect my course form and get it signed. It wasn’t only me but with some other unserious people. I had even forgotten all I had read throughout the night because I was so stressed.

Eventually, I entered the examination hall very late. At that time, all my friends I lied to about the course form then knew that I didn’t sign the course form but lied. When the results were released, I failed the course just because of my unseriousness and procrastination so I wrote that examination again in the next year. 
**A stitch in time saves nine,** I said to myself after I knew that I had failed the course.
