Today I am reporting on two of my hobbies: light painting and cycling. Current, because my wife and I have planned a bicycle tour on our tandem along the Weser River to the source of the Fulda River. Of course I will take my camera and tripod with me to take some pictures along the way. I will report on that here next week. 
On the subject of bicycles, I found another light painting in my archive. It dates from 2019 and has lost none of its topicality.

Heute berichte ich aus aktuellem Anlass gleich über zwei meiner Hobbys: Lightpainting und Radfahren. Aktuell, weil meine Frau und ich eine Fahrradtour auf unserem Tandem, die Weser entlang, bis zur Quelle der Fulda geplant haben. Natürlich werde ich meine Kamera und Stativ mitnehmen, um unterwegs einige Bilder aufzunehmen. Darüber werde ich  an dieser Stelle in der nächsten Woche berichten. 
Zum Thema Fahrrad habe ich noch ein Lightpainting in meinem Archiv gefunden. Es stammt aus dem Jahr 2019 und hat nichts an Aktualität verloren.

The cover picture shows a racing bike surrounded by the colours of the Drapeau Tricolore. It should be mentioned that the racing bike is a Specialized Roubaix. Named after the famous bicycle race from Paris to Roubaix. The one-day race over 250km was held for the first time in 1896 and partly led over cobblestone roads. The tradition of running the bike race over cobblestone roads is still maintained today. This racing bike was designed precisely for this purpose.

Das Titelbild zeigt ein Rennrad, umgeben mit den Farben der Drapeau Tricolore. Dazu sei erwähnt, dass es sich bei dem Rennrad um ein Specialized Roubaix handelt. Benannt nach dem berühmten Fahrradrennen von Paris nach Roubaix. Das eintägige Rennen über 250km  wurde 1896 das erste mal ausgetragen und führte teilweise über Kopfsteinpflasterstraßen. Die Tradition, das Radrennen über Kopfsteinpflasterstraßen zu führen, wird bis heute beibehalten. Exakt dafür wurde dieses Rennrad konstruiert.

The image idea was clear. The French flag, as a symbol for the venue, was to be brought together in the image with the racing bike developed for the traditional race. 
For this, I created a bitmap file with the tricolour on the computer and loaded it into my DIY pixel stick. I set up the scene in the cellar. For this, I covered the light walls with black Molton fabric, placed the racing bike in the stand and draped the helmet with glasses in the appropriate position. For this I used a polystyrene roll, tape and molton. 
For the shot, I guided the pixelstick around the bike in a wave motion. I illuminated the racing bike, the glasses and the helmet with a torch.

Die Bildidee war klar. Die französische Flagge, als Symbol für den Austragungsort, sollte zusammen mit dem für das traditionelle Rennen entwickelte Rennrad im Bild zusammengeführt werden. 
Dafür erstellte ich am Computer eine Bitmap Datei mit der Tricolore und lud sie in mein DIY-Pixelstick. Die Szene baute ich im Keller auf. Dafür deckte ich die hellen Wände mit schwarzem  Molton-Stoff ab, stellte das Rennrad in den Ständer und drapierte den Helm mit Brille in der passenden Position. Dafür benutzte ich eine Styropor-Rolle, Klebeband und Molton. 
Für die Aufnahme führte ich den Pixelstick in einer Wellenbewegung um das Fahrrad. Das Rennrad, die Brille und den Helm leuchtete ich mit einer Taschenlampe an.

DIY-Pixel-Stick

In the picture above I show the DIY Pixelstick. For this, I glued an RGB LED strip into a 1m long gallery strip. The diffuser here is baking paper, which I attached with adhesive tape over the LEDs. The handle comes from a bicycle handlebar. The electronics are stored in an old packing box. I put this in a small shoulder bag. The kit, including batteries, cost less than 50.00 euros.

Of course, you could also use other tools for this picture, such as coloured tubes. There are hardly any limits in light painting. I liked the striped look of the pixelstick in this case.

Im Bild oben zeige ich den DIY-Pixelstick. Dafür klebte ich einen RGB-LED-Streifen in eine 1m lange Galerieleiste. Als Diffusor dient hier Backpapier, welches ich mit Klebestreifen über den LEDs befestigt habe. Der Griff stammt von einem Fahrradlenker. Die Elektronik ist in einer alten Verpackungsbox verstaut. Diese stecke ich in eine kleine Umhängetasche. Das inklusive Akkus hat weniger als 50,00 Euro gekostet.

Natürlich könnte man für dieses Bild auch andere Tools, wie z.B. farbige Tubes einsetzen. Im Lightpainting sind da kaum Grenzen gesetzt. Ich mochte in diesem Fall den Streifenlook des Pixelsticks.

<h2>What Is Light Painting?</h2>

Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.

Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewand werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
