Tras una pausa en el programa, nuestro equipo vuelve a la acción para transmitir contenido deportivo de gran calidad. Hemos estado trabajando en un nuevo formato para que la experiencia de los seguidores del podcast sea aún más amena y puedan disfrutar de las mejores impresiones que el mundo del ajedrez tiene para ofrecer.

Para la edición de hoy abordadamos una saga que ha estado dando mucho de que hablar en el mundo de las 64 casillas y que ha tenido mucho eco en todo el mundo. Grandes diarios como The Washington Post y personalidades como Elon Musk y otros han tenido algo que decir sobre esta polémica que ha hecho explotar a las redes sociales y ha cautivado e indignado a los fans del ajedrez.

Todo empezó tras la partida que jugaron el Gran Maestro **Magnus Carlsen**, aún reinante campeón mundial, y el Gran Maestro **Hans Niemann**, un prodigio estadounidense de 19 años. El enfrentamiento se dio en el prestigioso torneo **Sinquefield Cup** realizado en San Luis (Estado Unidos), en septiembre y en el cual el campeón del mundo resultó perdedor. Pues bien, al día siguiente Carlsen se retiró del torneo en marcha y dió a entender que algo no estaba bien con su infame derrota, lo que a su vez desató una ola de especulaciones que muy rápidamente **convergieron a la idea de Niemann le habría hecho trampas a Carlsen**.

Tras varias semanas de acontecimientos que echaban más leña al fuego, tales como las reacciones de **Hikaru Nakamura**, los informes de **Chess.com**, etc., Carlsen finalmente rompe el silencio y publica un comunicado en el que confirma las sospechas y **acusa directamente a Niemann de hacer trampas**. Sin embargo, los críticos observan que Carlsen lo hace sin proveer la "apropiada evidencia mínima", que es como lo describiría el presidente de la Federación Internacional de Ajedrez FIDE al intervenir en el caso. La situación escaló al punto de que **Hans Niemann ha tomado acciones legales contra Carlsen y otros por difamación**.

El que este incidente haya ocurrido al más alto nivel pone de relieve un problema preocupante en el ajedrez competitivo: A pesar de su fama de "deporte ciencia", "juego milenario" y "juego de caballeros", el ajedrez no está excento de la posibilidad de que se cometan trampas, pero tampoco está excento del error y el abuso de poder.

En el programa se explican de manera sencilla las maneras más comunes como las trampas se llevan a cabo y cómo esta fechoría compromete la integridad del juego. Veremos que con el auge del ajedrez online es muy fácil hacer trampas, bien sea con la asistencia de un tercero o de un programa informático, y que las plataformas de juego online disponen de mecanismos que ayudan a mitigar esta situación.

También comentaremos que el parásito de las trampas ha afectado en cierto grado a los torneos presenciales también, algo que sin duda es alarmante, aunque hacerlas allí es un poco más complicado y por ello menos frecuente. 

Por supuesto, hay una gran cantidad de aristas y detalles sumamente relevantes en este caso y en el programa de hoy hacemos un análisis y recapitulación bastante extensos de la así llamada **Controversia Carlsen-Niemann** que no ha hecho más que enriquecerse en los últimos meses.

After a break in the show, our team is back in action to broadcast high quality sports content. We have been working on a new format to make the experience of the followers of the podcast even more enjoyable and enjoy the best impressions that the world of chess has to offer.

For today's edition we are dealing with a saga that has been giving a lot to talk about in the world of 64 squares and that has had a lot of echo around the world. Major newspapers such as The Washington Post, and personalities such as Elon Musk and others have had something to say about this controversy that made the social media explode and captivated or outraged chess fans.

It all started after the game played by Grandmaster **Magnus Carlsen**, still reigning world champion, and Grandmaster **Hans Niemann**, a 19-year-old American prodigy. The confrontation took place at the prestigious Sinquelfield Cup tournament held in St. Louis (USA) in September, in which the world champion lost. Well, the next day Carlsen withdrew from the ongoing tournament and implied that something was not right with his infamous defeat, which in turn unleashed a wave of speculation that very quickly **converted to the idea that Niemann had cheated Carlsen**.

After several weeks of events adding fuel to the fire, such as reactions from **Hikaru Nakamura**, reports from **Chess.com**, etc., Carlsen finally breaks the silence and releases a statement confirming the suspicions and **directly accusing Niemann of cheating**, but does so without providing the "appropriate minimal evidence", as the president of the International Chess Federation FIDE would describe it when intervening in the case. The situation escalated to the point that **Hans Niemann has taken legal action against Carlsen and others for defamation**.

That this incident occurred at the highest level highlights a worrying problem in competitive chess: Despite its reputation as a "science sport", "ancient game" and "gentleman's game", chess is not exempt from the possibility of cheating, but neither is it exempt from error and abuse of power.

The program explains in a simple way the most common ways cheating is carried out and how this misdeed compromises the integrity of the game. We will see that with the rise of online chess it is very easy to cheat, either with the assistance of a third party or a computer program, and how online gaming platforms have mechanisms to help mitigate this situation.

We will also comment that the parasite of cheating has to some degree affected over the board (in person) tournaments as well, something that is certainly alarming, although this kind of cheating is a bit more complicated and therefore less frequent. 

Of course, there are a lot of highly relevant edges and details in this case and in today's program we make a rather extensive analysis and recapitulation of the so-called **Carlsen-Niemann controversy** that has only enriched in recent months.
