Crypto exchange platforms Coinbase and Bitfinex both announced yesterday, Feb. 20, that they are now ready to implement the Segregated Witness (SegWit) scalability upgrade for Bitcoin (BTC).

Coinbase tweeted the announcement that it has finished the final testing stages of SegWit for Bitcoin on the platform and is aiming for a 100 percent launch to all customer by mid-next week.  Bitfinex announced an already functioning rollout of SegWit to all customers trading in BTC.

Now that segwit is solidified and in use and Bitcoin transaction fees are falling will Bitcoin users now try again to push it as a currency.  It seems there was a branding shift to focus more on Bitcoin as a store of value like a digital form of gold.  This shift seemed to be to distract from the fact that Bitcoin was failing as a useful currency for making purchases, not because of it's volatility but because of it's slowness and high fees.

While fees may be down is the chain still too slow though?
