Going through lots of my old images and found these of Higgar Tor and Carl Wark, in the South Yorkshire part of the Peak District.
I find it so strange that when I looked back at these shots, that I rememebered the day vividly, it was a great day, apart from dropping my ipad on a rock and smashing it to oblivion, I had take the drone out on this day, I'd just finished with it and had to jump over a gap, the ipad shot out of my pocket, there was loads of grass around, but it found the only rock withing a 10 foot radius lol.

Sat on the edge of a rather large drop, the picture doesn't do this justice at all, but I assure you, it was much further down than it looks here.

The walk I did for these shots was from Fox House (a lovely pub if you ever get the chance to visit), over to Higgar Tor, I'd never done the walk before and from the fox house area, it looked like a straight walk through to Carl Wark and then Higgar Tor, I was surprised when I was met with this cliff face.

I managed to find a way down, now the next obstacle was finding a way around thist brook.
I'd never been to this area before, I didn't have a map or anything, so was kind of wondering, how do I make it up to Carl Wark?
There was a path kind of following the course of the brook, so rather than try to cross (it was flowing pretty fast and deep in places), I decided to follow the path.

Low and behold, there was a beautiful little bridge crossing over the brook, it was a good walk, but was a lovely surprise to see this, as it was like looking back in time.
So over the bridge I went, then the next obstacle came, MUD!
Yes, even though I was heading up hill, in places the mud was thick, and there was tonnes of it, this was the hardest part of trying to get up to Carl Wark, as every way you went, there was thick thick mud.

BUT, I managed it, with what seemed like an age, with the clouds looking as if it was going to rain at times, I didn't want to get stuck in the mud. Even going down the hill on the way back was hard to try and find a dryish path.

The view over to Higgar Tor was beautiful, big skies, and a big hill, the pictures don't do it justice of how big it actually looks in person.

The above image was taken from a bit of film I shot on my mobile phone, for some reason I didn't take a picture of this wall, however, it dates back (people believe) to before the Roman occupation of Britain, although not 100% sure of what it was for, experts believe it was some sort of fortification. Also, Carl Wark was one of the places used in parts of the film "The Princess Bride".

Onward to Higgar Tor!

I finally made it, it was a bit of a scramble up rocks to get on to Higgar Tor, but I got there, and time for a cup of coffee, I took my little camping stove and boiled some water, can't beat a drink outide.
After looking around Higgar Tor, I'd not known that there is a road that runs straight around it, so where I parked, it took me about 3 hours to get where I was, obviously it would have been quicker if I'd have known the area and was less obstructions. It would have taken me 2 minutes had I known the road was there lol.

It doesn't look that far as the the crow flys, but it was a lot longer walk than I had anticipated. But a fantastic day.
