It has been a few days since I last posted. As I reflect on that, I can't even *remember* the last time I went three days without a post...

To be honest, I just needed to take a *“technology break.”*

Sometimes, I just feel like I get *so* absorbed in these online worlds that I reach a point of maximum saturation, at which time I feel neither inspired nor interested in participating anymore.

When that happens, I know it's time to step away. Trying to *”force”* something to happen when your heart just isn't in it has never worked well for me.

Besides, it's springtime and we have a yard that is gradually becoming very overgrown because the temperatures have risen, and there is more daylight, but it just keeps raining and raining and raining so being outside has mostly been a case of running between the raindrops!

So, when we finally had a couple of semi-dry days I decided to step away from the computer and focus on things like mowing the grass, trimming hedges, and pulling up the virtual *explosion* of weeds in some of our beds.

Of course now it is raining again. The sad thing is that I actually felt more inspired to just go out and get wet than to get back to my online work, and my writing.

Often the result of this combination is that I sit in my chair in my Home Office and look out across the yard watching the rain pour down while the birds are also busy doing whatever *”bird things”* they need to do.

Sometimes I wonder whether it's just a natural part of aging — as I near my 62nd birthday — that we look out at the world and feel increasingly overwhelmed by what we perceive as *”the things we have to do.”* I can *see* the things alright, but on more and more occasions I look at those things and just don't feel like I can muster up the energy to actually *do* them.

My auntie — the elderly woman who helped raise me as a kid in Denmark — used to talk about how she always had to practice more *discernment* as she aged. She would point out how her actual *interest* in taking on various things had by no means waned with age, but her ability to *actually undertake* them definitely had.

Naturally, 62 isn't exactly *old* but it's also a lot more than 29! And I'm definitely *not* 29, anymore...

And so I looked out across my wet lawn, and found somewhat sobering to ~~think~~ recognize that I have most likely already lived *three quarters* of my life, meaning that there is only *one quarter* left. Of course, that doesn't *have* to be true — my auntie lived to be 94, and was in excellent health until the very end.

Meanwhile, I grow increasingly aware but there is a lot more to life — or, at least, a lot more that means something to *ME* — than spending all my life entrenched in virtual worlds, no matter *how much* I might enjoy being part of them.
 
Which, I suppose, is my rather long winded way of saying that it is likely that I will be a less frequent participator here for a while. Nothing to do with my feelings about the community, and pretty much *everything* to do with myself and my current state of deeper examination of life!

However... don't hold me *to* that. Life has a way of sending me off in the completely *opposite* direction from the one I thought I was going!

So I'll probably be back tomorrow...

Now, if it would only stop raining...!
