this is one maxim in writing that i really love, particularly for your distinction that "telling is just giving someone information to remember" and conveys really very little on an emotional level to the reader. it's when you start adding those phrases that connect people to the moment more fully that the writing gets really good.

Very helpful article specially the wisdom in the end. No one can replace your work is the best thing I have ever heard. Human beings are unique and but they don't know their worth. They dont realise their potential and the potential the writing offers to an individual. Writing has the power to change the world. It's time people should realise that.
Anyways @dragonslayer109 , you have been doing hell lot of job to educate people about the significance of writing. A great thumbs up for you.

You've hit the nail on the head. I teach GAMSAT essay writing (essays for entry into medical school) and the key is to write from the heart - tell them a story from your experience, and not only 'the story', but also how you feel or felt about the events in the story. This is how to connect through the written word.

Very interesting read! I have a lot to learn when it comes to my writing clearly!

I think using metaphors to tell your story is a great way of showing what your real message is.  e.g. "it's raining cats and dogs outside!"

One example really isn't enough. You could have done better. 👎

I felt my stomach rumble and started to get concerned. A few minutes later the rumble was loud enough for others in the room to take notice. As Jane, seated in the desk next to mine, leaned over to ask me if I was okay, another groan came from my tummy immediately followed by that involuntary clench that signals you that you have about 16 seconds to make it to the toilet before all hell breaks loose!
