<div class="text-justify"> If you've been following along, you'll know that we have yet another whale war on our hands. It's not unusual to have whales be at odds with one another. It's happened many times since 2016, and I suspect it will continue. This particular whale war involves 2 accounts that each have over $500,000 value in their wallets (and more, if they have multiple accounts.) There is no point in naming them again, because there is no point in hearing the incessant, "I continue to abuse because I have been abused." At some point, people decide to end the cycle of abuse with their own actions - or not. Justifying your poor treatment of others by pointing fingers at those who hurt you is just bad behavior. Yet, I'm sure both of them feel that it is their right to do whatever they wish with their vote. <br> *It is. It is absolutely their right.* <br> What is unfortunate, is that sometimes when whales can't inflict enough damage to each other, they have to widen their circle of damage to increase the noise - and that will spill all over into the many people on Hive who are just here to share content, earn crypto, have fun, and generally mind their own business. I proposed a solution that involved creating a helper account supported by the DHF for $35 a day - because as you can see my wallet is worth hmmm around $4683 and change, at the time of writing this post. I didn't think I could afford the $35 a day, and so I proposed a potential solution. The idea was that if you wanted to receive support, you needed to give support. As I stated earlier, I cannot both pay people to do the admin work and provide rewards. So I suggested that anyone who would like to be eligible for support could add a 1% beneficiary reward from their post rewards to the helper account, and also a 1HP delegation, to make that support be publicly listed on the account's wallet. For anyone who was a LARGER account with MUCH more HP, they could choose to be a major supporter and add 1000HP to the account to help boost its voting power. While that might seem like an astronomical amount to some people, one of the whale accounts that I mentioned has nearly 1.5 million HP in one account. 1000 HP is 0.00067 % of that wallet's HP. It is fairly negligible to that wallet, but added up with others from the community - it could have had a great effect in the voting power of our created account. Not to mention the boost of community good will wanting to add back some of the positivity on Hive. But after reading some of the concerns in the comment section on the post, I thought it is probably best to just leave it alone. It seemed the DHF was unlikely to be used for the community in this way, and it also seemed that it was too risky of a proposal since people would have to trust me to do the job well, and there was no guarantee that I would. Let me say here, that these were not accusations, but merely attempts to find holes in the proposal to make it more attractive to the community, and therefore more likely to pass. I was not offended, but I did decide that I would simply toss the ball to a more skilled player. A lot of people came to me privately (which again, was sad, because some felt that they weren't knowledgeable enough to speak without being attacked, and some were just afraid to be targeted by whales for speaking up... geez.) and asked me to please reconsider. I stated then as I'm stating now, I do not have the $35 a day to support it myself, and I won't put people in a position where they have to be uncertain about being compensated for work that they will do, when no one else will. Then @samsmith1971 had a pretty brilliant idea. <br> ## What if we just absorb the costs by DreemPort? We would need people to vet posts, but DreemPort already has screeners. What if that would be the only pre-requisite: that the post would have to have already been put through DreemPort in order to be eligible for our help? *Ok. Well, that's interesting. Let's think about this...* <br> ## What about the weekly posts with the data compilation? Well, it's privately funded. Since we wouldn't be using any of the community money, there would be zero need for us to report anything. Just like the whales can downvote indiscriminately without any explanation needed - because it is their right. Would it not be our right to tip someone's wallet as we saw fit? <br> ## And now no one has to worry about trust, right? Right - because they either come to us for help, or they find an alternative solution. There is no need for anyone to feel any obligation for anything. They can go wherever they're treated best. We very much support that! <br> ## What about the delegations and the upvote power of the helper account (@oopseedaisee)? That's a nice thing to offer, but we can just upvote with what we have. If it's depleted, then it's depleted. They can still see us upvote on the account as a supportive gesture and know that we're spreading joy and trying to build positive bridges. (as @wesphilbin always says) And what about the $5 per day for rewards. (which is what was proposed, but from what I'm seeing around the blockchain will IN NO WAY restore what has been removed) Well that's $150 a month. That's a lot of money, but I can do my best to make the sacrifice. Because that's what it eventually takes, right? Someone willing to just say - ok, I'll sacrifice to help others. So, let's try it. And who knows... if it's going well, and I need more support, maybe I'll just powerdown my account and support others with it. <br> ## So what will it cost them? In my view, there is no solution to the wars. The platform is what it is by its design. If you create a sphere based on the competition that visibility is the only important component, then the content is basically irrelevant, even if we all like to make ourselves believe otherwise. Anyone who has been here for a long time can see that the content is, by and large, neither particularly original nor particularly exceptional (mine included). It's all about networking and making as many supporters as possible, and most manual votes are given out of loyalty and friendly, often superficial acquaintance. Just like auto-votes. The contradiction between auto and manual voting cannot be removed. It exists and will continue to exist in the online realm. "Effort" is rewarded, not necessarily excellent or completely irritating new thinking via content. Thinkers, writers, scientists, artists etc. who publish the unusual, provocative and shocking in a sphere will not make a big splash if only because what they publish can hardly be understood. The best-selling beer is the one that contains the greatest amount of water, because everyone likes water. LOL So I laugh when I hear people saying that they are "quality content creators". What they might mean though, is that they make effort either in how much "time" they spent on their publication or how much "time" they spend on networking. People know "great names" because they are constantly and penetratingly repeated, but whether these names really accomplished something extraordinary is a different matter. Therefore, it is names that people don't know, that are on some indexes, books that hardly get any significant circulation, irritating texts, hardly understandable, outrageous claims that go against everything that one has anchored in one's own world view, that deserve a closer look in my eyes. Because they are hard to find, hard to comprehend, they are not distributed/visible. Any sphere that wants itself to go mainstream basically contradicts the idea of being independent from it. It uses the same techniques and strategies that it rejects outside its sphere of influence. Another contradiction as when formulates it as "the aim to go for." It stays interesting when it's a side stream. Effort (proof of work) wants to be seen by people and it wants to be proven every day. The final product of an individual, for example, which required years of work in a non-public space, is worth nothing if the creator of a work brings it into the sphere in a finished state. This person may have been way to occupied with his work and doesn't have time for networking. LOL By chance then, this exception to the rule might become "known" or "worshipped" until his work is so vastly discussed, understood and misunderstood that it will be mainstream one day. Funnily enough, however, all can observe that whoever feels the favour of loyalty, he simply needs to publish a few photos plus a little text and he gets the coveted upvotes. These contradictions in actions - whether implemented by big or small - are where tempers flare. And indeed, they cannot be resolved. These contradictions are present at every turn. The eternally same game that we used to observe in the spheres of the elites has extended to the online playgrounds of ordinary people and they are no more masters of this game than anyone else. Whether gentlemen or ladies create themselves because they "wish to do good" or because they do not believe those who compete in the name of good makes no difference, because it is impossible to find out in general (only in particular). Especially not when one enters a sphere anonymously and with multiple avatars. Your idea and your enthusiasm - which is at the same time paired with tiredness (who is surprised) - is testimony and expression of the contradictions in a system. One day you are as light as a bird, another day as heavy as a rock. Now it is the whale wars and all other dominating visible events that motivate others or generate feelings from anger, to sadness, from empowerment to helplessness. This is a great feel-garden for some and a great technical finesse for others. Both, the precise and the spongy, have their playground here. There is simply nothing that can be called "good quality" without any doubt, because everyone will never agree on it. The attempt to bring a sphere under a complete agreement is therefore not possible. Disputants want to argue and they also fight without chivalry. Without them, however, we would not know where we locate ourselves. They are a means and an occasion to position oneself in the open. There is no other chance. To promote yourself in this contradictory realm you'll find both, supporters and opposers. In order, dis-order is already embedded. :) If I say there is no "solution" I just mean that it is never "final". It means that one has to live with high ambiguities and try to navigate in a serene way. One by one.

Oh I totally disagree... hehehe and I will name one person specifically here... someone who is newer, called @strega.azure. In my opinion, she is putting out the most amazing content.... consistently!!! She is not only an incredible artist that shows every step of her work, but she tells about WHY she is drawing that particular art, and draws us into all kinds of facts and interesting notions.. then when we actually get to hear her present her work on @shadowspub's PYPT show .you can HEAR how passionate she is! and fun...and extraordinary!!! and she was newer, and not so appreciated. A lot of her quality content....yep...she is absolutely a quality content creator....lol was going by unnoticed and she wasn't really getting much interaction either. Someone happened to see her and invited her to DreemPort where she could start to control her visibility and be assured that at least SOME people will get to see her posts daily Not only that...she was supporting them too by reading and engaging with them in her own daily 5 posts that she was randomly curating through DreemPort. I had no idea that when we met her on DreemPort, that she was in need of help! I figured someone of her quality was helping US by sharing her content with us on DreemPort!!! lolol it wasn't until about...6 weeks later? that she said her journey wouldn't have been the same at all...without the dreemers. I was shocked. literally. she thanked us and I said. no...thank YOU! this is exactly why we created DreemPort. Visibility is definitely a huge part of content creation. Most (not all) want to create to share and enjoy with people. Some only need money and don't care about engagement... but visibility is CRITICAL for either . That's why it's a key component for DreemPort...but that is not all ..and that's what makes our project so special. because NO ONE is doing what we are attempting to do. we are powered by humans.. dependent on real reading and curating . quadruple "checked" system with Screeners, Guild, dreemers, and appeals. and rewarding people for their role in our system. we don't take people AWAY from their platforms...we actually bring people TO their platforms. (meaning we do not host their blogs ... we only give people URLS that send them TO their blogs ..so there is no competition with any platform out there. we work WITH them) and on top of that...we just have fun lol I dare say....we ARE the solution to this problem. hehehe the only drawback is funds. but as we grow, we will have more to help ... and so we will. thanks to @samsmith1971 seeing this connection!!! the more I see it...the more excited I get! we are gonna try to do this and see just how far we get! π₯°

But to explain what I mean by "extra ordinary": It is what causes deep discomfort, irritation, surprise, incomprehension and disbelief in people. Often it is paired with great rage. In other words, a presentation of content that has not been experienced before, or only very rarely. Sometimes it doesn't even reach a strong feeling, but because you don't understand it, it irritates you so that you simply move on or leave it unnoticed. If it hits you it goes beyond laughter or cry, it just lets you be in a state of awe (not in the common sense but this yaw dropping form of wonder). It catches you in your most private moments. Not something one is eager to share because one cannot repeat what the content creator has done. And even sometimes one thinks it is so .... (lack of term) that you cannot share it because it might not only not be understood but utterly misunderstood and mis-taken. Most things are liked because many people are liking them, is all what I am saying. It is not something I belittle because I include myself. I see that as reality. I also did not say that there are no solutions but no "final" ones. It's like with science. Things are becoming exciting, then accepted, then convention, then believed. Until they are exchanged by new things, which are exciting, convention, believed. In between one either tries to hold on to those things or to leave them behind. An ever ongoing dance (some say struggle). You may find me odd but that was, what I came up with after having read all your three postings on this topic and another one yesterday. Greetings:)

I am honoured that you mentioned me @dreemsteem. thank you for all what you are doing. I want to put huge thanks to all #dreamers and especially @wrestlingdesires who was first to leave meaningful comment under my work, which lifted my spirit and @samsmith1971 for her huge constant support of my work. I am blushing of course! I am glad that people find my work and/or writing interesting. I think it is really easy to be cynical about what is going on hive. Longer I am here, I understand better the reason behind users actions. But! I would say it is you choice to grow bitter and pragmatic. It is your choice to spend X amount of time to create the content, because you are your very first critic and censor. If it meets your standards - should meat others, right? Well... How about no? We all have our reasons here to do what we do. To be here. If you want earn bucks - you can. You can do good market research and try to follow the trends. Look for most profitable tokens, try to be appealing to curators, artificially spread wide net of connections, sped your time to comment stuff that don't interest you, but in hope - it will pay off later. You can if that's what you want. It is not what I want. What I wanted is to belong. I am introvert and actual weirdo in real life. Struggle to connect with people, struggle to talk with them. And @dreemport took me in. Simple as that. I am small fish now, happy to be one. But not alone:) And many small fish form an avalanche π

>At some point, people decide to end the cycle of abuse with their own actions - or not. I do agree with you, @dreemsteem! It's all about making a decision. We see this in everyday life all around us... People will come from abusive backgrounds... Some might have been abused physically, some might have grown up in a family with alcohol and/or drug abuse... Yet, as they grow up, we see siblings from the same family making different choices... one will continue and follow the same habits of abuse with the excuse "That's all I know...I have been abused myself..." versus the other one coming from the same family who would say "I've had enough of this! I have seen what this does to your loved ones and even other people around you. I will not follow this way". I think this is a similar situation. Being a victim of abuse in the past, shouldn't lead to claiming the "right" to continue in that way by abusing others, but rather developing a responsibility to *change* the environment surrounding you! It's a matter of choice! Will I remain a victim and continue to abuse because I've been abused or will I learn from what I had to endure and choose to take responsibility, making the world a better place where I can? I think @samsmith1971 has a great idea! Let's go for it! This will give us all the opportunity to make this a team effort!

that's right .. victim or victor I choose victor. whatever anyone else chooses is completely up to them, but being a victim forever is only going to drain your life and all the people around you that you continue to sap energy from. blech....lol. it's just gross in my book to be an energy drain. I know we all have our seasons of draining people (and ourselves) but at some point, kick the habit and start taking responsibility for your own actions and choose wiser. but some people really don't know how, and that's ok. maybe if those who do know how lead by example in bigger ways, it starts to catch on? I have no idea. I just know we are gonna try this and see what happens!! If it doesn't succeed exactly the way we hoped? that's ok....cuz something more can come later that piggy backs off of our idea...or others! I welcome it all... anything that helps is good!!!

Sounds like Dreemport gets a super good spin off this. May I just ask whether either *human being* involved in this debacle was asked for Parley (since you're keen on pirating) prior to this all going live? My only interest in this shit storm is that everyone is respected and that everyone is honest. This way maybe there can be some actual "justice" and a mutually beneficial resolution for all parties *and* the greater good may come to *light*. Same thing if all parties are actually focused on the greater good anyway so should be simple and amicable.

I don't think I have ever received a personal reply from Marky whenever I have left a comment for him, and though xeldal now follows me (something I found interesting) I have also never received a personal reply from my comments to him. When I got the message from deraaa that morning, I had no answers for her. When I have gotten in the midst of a downvote war by whales in the past, I had to just wait it out. (like most Hivers) Her issue was that she relies on Hive to live. I didn't think waiting it out would be th best option. She also suggested that she just stop writing. I'm pretty sure that's not a great suggestion either. If people stop writing for every whale war, that seems like a lot of people get hurt (and probably lose interest in Hive) while that stuff plays itself out. which is why I thought...let me just write an appeal to the community and personally ask the two whales involved to come gently to discuss if they could Marky did for a bit. xeldal didn't. Acid jumped in and challenged me graciously to find a way. At the time, I was hoping for a ceasefire and we could all tralala onto better days lol. But when that didn't come...I was consistently asked to keep fighting for what would help people. I haven't been very active on Hive and had to hire people to take over my day to day activities because my life has taken a very interesting ... hmm joyful, painful, meaningful, difficult, heartbreaking, life-building strain. And though DreemPort is my baby, I can assure you and reassure you... ADDING to its daily burdens was not necessarily a "super good spin off" for DreemPort. lol I have still not come up with a decent way to provide rewards and that is the crux, after all....isn't it? To help people not only share their voices but offer some financial relief to their lives, powered by that same voice? Well thanks for taking the time on your day off to reply. It wasn't necessary. I'm always happy to wait until folks have space and time. Life goes on. Everyone is fighting a battle we don't know about. And we are all only human. It may be less stressful and time consuming, and much less political and divisive, if the "whales" / people involved were asked to sit and talk with an objective third party and the creatives it is affecting? Next time? Privately? Disagreements are so complex, there is rarely one side that is "right" and one "wrong". This conversation contains a multitude of perspectives. A final thought and then I have my own personal challenges to focus on. Deera was given a challenge to face. Life is like that. "Life on life's terms" some call it. We can embrace these and rise. In fact, some might believe these are gifted to us to do just that. She made a choice and rose, despite external circumstances beyond her control. How about featuring the helped posts, in much the same way as The Inkwell and Scholar And Scribe features exceptional posts? With a nice quote, description, etc? OCD and Curangel do consistent posts of the content that they support, and personally I look through it sometimes to discover authors.
