## All Creatures Great and Small

Hello friends! These days have been holidays and we have had a little more time, although we have traveled or been away visiting relatives or friends, surely we have had a little moment to sit comfortably on the sofa with a blanket and enjoy a pleasant series or movie.

Because during the Christmas days it seems that **a tsunami of somewhat cheesy but very happy Christmas movies** and always with the same theme seem to flood the programming or the catalogs of the streaming platforms. On the other hand, there is **the usual content** that, lately, seems to be less and less original, many remakes of past successes, as if they did not know how to invent or create anything new that would really become popular, or on the contrary, new series modeled on each other. Many others already boring about **apocalyptic futures and more dystopia**, as if we didn't have enough with reality. In recent times, unfortunately, reality more than ever seems to be stranger than fiction.

But let's go back to the fiction because there is **still hope for those of us who want to see some creative, positive and enjoyable content**. *Without abusing visual effects, without excessive violence or blood, without constant shouting or profanity, without needlessly cruel moments, without nudes that respond to nothing more than the audience or without the ever-recurring sex scenes*. There are still series that invite us to spend a quiet afternoon with the rest of the family, without problems, without scares or moments of anguish.

And one of those series, (fortunately these days I have found some), has been ***“All Creatures Great and Small”***. It is an English series (2020), the truth is that English productions are good when they talk about their own, what they know and know, as is of course the English countryside and those moments of manners from another era.

That's what the series is based <code>on the beloved books of James Alfred Wight, published under the pen name James Herriot</code> (*from imdb.com*).
And it is about, a young veterinarian who lives various and touching adventures, well his day to day (sometimes funny days sometimes sad days but always with an optimistic view), in a new place, a small town in Yorkshire in the 30s, and there he will win over the community. 
Firstly, to his boss, the owner of the veterinary practice, somewhat grumpy but with a good heart, he will be a good friend to his carefree little brother, he will always have the support of the housekeeper, and finally he will know the love of a farmer from area.

### What would I highlight about the series? 
In addition to the fact that it is curious to know the work that rural veterinarians had, and must continue to have, we enjoyed **the tenderness** not only of many of the little animals that they help bring into the world, but also of the tenderness of each one of the characters. There are no unbearable characters to hate, even the one who plays that role is not like that, he is not hateful, throughout the chapters we discover his true personality, that of a noble and good man, who simply tries to hide it.

And **the protagonist himself is a character with values**, who always doubts whether he is doing the right thing or not, but like the rest, they all have good intentions, a good heart and values of those that are no longer seen now. It is comforting to see, even on a screen, human relationships based on honesty and respect, in which good manners predominate, and where repressed emotions are sometimes understood after the fact, but it is what builds the plot of many of those chapters so nice to watch.

It has surprised me, and it has made me feel good, because it is **an unpretentious series**, but perhaps these are the best, the ones that do not promise great emotions, from which you do not expect much, but which possibly **give you the best moments of comfort , serenity, and warmth**, on a sofa and with a blanket. There's no need for much more. I recommend it.
