To be honest, I never thought I would ever understand anything about this Web3 or crypto world. I always see it as something so difficult, that I thought it was meant for men alone, I have guys who are fully into web3, but I do not take it serious since I have no interest in it.

The first time I ever heard anything serious about Web3 was during my NYSC and I heard it from my neighbor who happens to be a lady. She was always talking about crypto. Every time I went to her apartment, she would either be watching some crypto video or checking her phone for something related to crypto. The way she talked about it, you would think it’s the easiest thing in the world. But for me, it was like a blocked road nothing was entering my head.

I remember sitting with her one day and she was explaining again, this time about Hive and how people are making money by just writing and sharing posts. In my mind, I was like, “How can somebody just write and get paid? Is that possible?” I was confused. I did not even believe her at first.

For me, this whole Web3 talk was for people who know about computers or people who are tech gurus. Me? No way. I thought it was not for someone like me. But this neighbor of mine refused to give up. She kept saying I could learn it too, that it’s simple, and I should not worry.

One day, she came to my room again. That day I told her the truth I said, “See, I don’t understand all this crypto talk. It’s confusing me.” She laughed and said I was not alone, that many people felt that way the first time. So she sat me down and started breaking everything into simple pieces.

That was the first time she really introduced me to Hive. She said Hive was a good platform to start Web3 because I could just write anything my thoughts, stories, and ideas, and people would read it, like it, vote for it and I could earn something called Hive tokens which is real crypto money.

But even after all the explanation, I was still doubting. In my mind, I was thinking, “How is it possible to just write and get paid? Is that not strange?” But because she was so sure and confident, I decided to try.

I created my Hive account and made my first post. It was not perfect. When I posted my introduction I thought nobody would read it or care. But after some hours, I started seeing people reading and welcoming me. Now, I don’t see Web3 as a scary thing anymore. It’s not only for tech people. 

So if you are like me confused, scared, and thinking you can’t learn it please relax. Take your time. Ask someone to explain it slowly like my neighbor did for me. You don’t need to rush or be perfect. If I can learn it, you can too.
