Shooting models up close and personal

It says in my bio down below that amongst other things I shoot models. I don't get nearly as much chance to shoot with models as I'd like possibly due to this damn virus that keeps on being persistent.

Someone once said to me that I should develop my own style but I'm not sure if I really have one especially when it comes to shooting models. I like the idea of making women look strong and confident in an image and I make sure I say so to the model. One of the main keys to shooting models is to state what you want in the posing and give direction. No good photo came from a shoot if the model has no idea what you want!

This is a set where I may or may not have succeeded in making the model look strong and I probably need more practice to explore this further.

***Nix Brown kicking back***

I got a chance to shoot with Nix in @brianbrogan1960's studio and was surprised to find it was an art nude shoot. I'm not one to complain and dutifully set out to capture Nix looking strong and confident!

For this shot, I used orange and peacock blue gels on the studio strobes:

***Eva and the '85***

I didn't get long on this group shoot to photograph Eva but in the brief time I had I managed to bag this super sharp shot taken witn a Sony 85mm f1.8 lens. Careful not to cut your fingers on this lens!

This is Kate back when she had long hair. I'm not quite sure I succeeded here but there's certainly a mood in the expression. I think it's called the "resting bitch face"

I've met a few "alternative" models in my travels and Cat was certainly the most fun and easy to work with. You probably couldn't tell in this shot though...

***Shooting with Nikki, the blonde bombshell***

I've shot with Nikki a few times and she doesn't model anymore. We're still friends on Zuckerbook and it's great to see her doing well.

With this one I placed a mid blue gel on a strobe behind Nikki to light up her hair. I'd like to revisit this style of lighting and change a few things. That's the OCD kicking in again!
