&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;El avance del barco por el lago esa madrugada, donde el sol estaba ya alto por el verano, le recordó la navegación por los fiordos noruegos. El agua era oscura, como en la mayoría de los lagos suizos, pero le habían contado que -hacia el final del viaje- esta trocaba en azul profundo, por el deshielo de los glaciares en la cabecera de los lagos. Al final, poco importaba el color de las aguas como sí, la paz que le invadía el alma sabiendo que se encontraría con la montaña en la que aprendió a escalar.

Intercambiaron frecuencias de radio por si acaso se presentaba algún accidente y se despidieron ¿Qué mejor día pudieron haber elegido para escalar? Cuando la temprana mañana se hizo oficial, las condiciones eran estupendas.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Acomodaron el equipo a las espaldas y comenzaron ambos el ascenso el ascenso. Victoria le había dicho a Will: *"quiero me lleves allá en mi cumpleaños",* así que ese día él estaba cumpliendo su palabra y la escalada comenzó. Caminaron durante dos horas a paso vigoroso y empezaron a dejar la explanada del valle atrás, el lago ya no era visible porque habían acordado subir por el sendero *"fácil",* es decir, ella ya había tenido experiencias escalando pero él no quiso arriesgar a su amor en algo que estaban haciendo, más bien, para compartir.

Una estación del guarda-parques se veía en la lejanía y ella le sugirió a Will, pasar el resto del día en ese punto. Acamparían allí y cambiarían los planes: correrían el regreso un día más y saldrían temprano por la mañana al ascenso, de tal modo que en lugar de acampar más alto, podrían ir y regresar para acampar de nuevo allí. A pesar que el quería dormir más arriba en la montaña, accedió y le pareció más sensato hacer lo propuesto.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Montaron la tienda y se dispusieron a sacar fotografías en los alrededores, cerca de los tres de la tarde almorzaron y tomaron una siesta. Al despertar se pusieron a jugar *"Scrabble"* y lo disfrutaron mucho. Podían jugar por horas y Will acostumbraba a discutir cualquier palabra medio extraña que ella pusiera en el tablero, porque ella tenía una ventaja: era profesora de Inglés a nivel Universitario y disponía de un léxico proverbial. Victoria -como siempre- ganó y se hizo hora de dormir.

> They set up the tent and set out to take pictures in the surrounding area. Around three in the afternoon they had lunch and took a nap. When they woke up they started playing *"Scrabble"* and enjoyed it very much. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Cuando Will despertó en la madrugada, Victoria no se encontraba en la tienda y le pareció extraño. Se vistió y salió solo para divisar a su novia a lo lejos, conversando con el guardaparques. La llamó con un grito, Victoria se despidió del tipo y salió trotando en su dirección. Al llegar le dijo que había ido a preguntar si se había reportado algún incidente en la montaña y si las condiciones de seguridad era óptimas. Will se felicitó al traerla, porque era algo que él no acostumbraba hacer. Era más temerario en la montaña.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Recogieron todo y comenzaron el ascenso, a una hora de haber partido, llegaron a una saliente desde donde tendrían que empezar a usar cuerdas y cuando Will viró hacia el voladero, Victoria le empujó sin ningún remordimiento. Mientras Will caía, su orgullo malherido iba con él ¿Qué había pasado? Victoria estaba harta de vivir con Will en un país tercermundista y había decidido urdir un plan con el guardaparques para presentar la caída como un accidente. Esa era la sorpresa de cumpleaños que ella quería.
