<P><div class="text-justify">The year is 2022, in October, to be more precise. This means, that 22 years ago, Limp Bizkit was the central figure of all rock and roll; and more specifically, their album: Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water, which by then was their third album. One, which was not only tremendously successful, but which marked a whole generation, like perhaps few other albums of the New Metal (Nu Metal) genre. This release took place on October 17th 2000, and since then it meant for the band led by Fred Durst notoriety, explosion and above all, critical acclaim and a new era in the rich history of rock, as part of music.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">Limp Bizkit, at the time, with this particular album not only broke with several years of tense calm within rock and roll, but gave an entire generation the channeling for dissent, the necessary daring that had been denied by artists and musicians of this genre, but also released within the album's tracklist their famous song "My Generation", which is a clear response to the song of the same name, popularized by the great British band "The Who". Wes Borland, Fred Durst, a duo that, while it lasted, gave the subgenre the power it so desperately needed. From my perspective, they were the most subversive of all their peers.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">Also, within Nu Metal, I think they were, along with Deftones and the early years of P.O.D., the bands that best knew how to add rap content to the strident rock background of the sound they were going for. Obviously, seen from the perspective that only time can give you, I can glimpse that they were a wonderfully crafted product. But they also had talent and above all, excellent technique. What's more, the bass player on this album, Samuel Roberts Davies, is a complete genius of harmonies. To appreciate this, you have to take the time within the song "My Way" to see how he subtly accompanies Borland's guitar arpeggios.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">In this sense, the musical composition we will see on this album is extremely rich. It has influences of Nine Inch Nails, as Durst would declare in multiple interviews, although the most announced touch that we can perceive is how the bass sound of the fusion between electric bass and guitars matches with the samplers made by DJ Lethal, the wonderful founding member of the band and incognito arranger, responsible for being the DJ and mixer of many Limp Bizkit's hits. Just imagine "Rollin' without DJ Lethal's input. And it is the importance of having been able to coincide in time and space that has made the creation of these guys so lasting, despite the years.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">In an era where immediacy quickly leaves everything that was once a success in the past, the transcendence of this album is almost synonymous with prowess. Because, let's be honest, we didn't live through the best years of rock and roll in general, and if I'm hasty, I could easily say that the first ten years of the 2000's was perhaps the last great wave of this wonderful and immortal genre. They, Limp Bizkit, were great representatives of that movement known as Nu Metal. They were not alone, that's obvious, but this album, 22 years in the future will be as incredible, powerful and addictive as it is as I write these commemorative lines. Simply put, there are recordings that don't get rusty and don't lose their relevance...</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">"Take A Look Around", is another of those mega hits that we will find on Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water. The song served as the promotional theme for the multi-blockbuster movie, starring Tom Cruise, "Mission Impossible: II". A classic, which I'm absolutely convinced is still heard at many parties, in the privacy of the car, on the way to or from work, or just to show off to friends when there are a few drinks involved. By the way, I didn't mean to leave out the great John Otto. So often mentioned in the openings of Limp Bizkit songs, and drummer, whose drumming on "My Generation" made his entrance unforgettable.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">Finally, few will know this fact, but this album is also produced by a certain Scott Weiland. If you look well within the list of producers of the album, you will find his participation. This is a curiosity in itself, but it is explained quite well by the influence that Stone Temple Pilots had on the band's childhood, and especially on Wes Borland and Fred Durst, who have declared themselves fans of the musical work done by the frontman of the popular Grunge band. Having said all this, I encourage you to go through the 65 minutes that this New Metal gem lasts, and I leave you with this last melancholic contribution: more and more, the definitive farewell of those heroes and figures that marked our lives with their music is getting closer and closer. Let's enjoy them, while we still can.</div></P>

It's incredible so many years passed, I somehow thought they were a "younger" band. Seems that I am getting old too and just want to stop the time hahaha
