Students are accustomed to result-orientated learning rather than learning out of a curious mind.

She made a decision to let her students lead their own learning through meaningful discussion initiated by students themselves.

She would step back and let students take the lead in their own learning.

Through the active discussion, students got to know their peers’ opinions and thoughts.

They had high level of engagement in meaningful learning from one another.

Through discussion, it may also drive students to research further the content of discussion to verify information and opinion based on facts.

Self-directed learning is therefore achieved by having teachers to step back and allow students to discover learning on their own.
