Conquering Fijabi
The king of Arepo kingdom screamed from his sleep and woke up looking terrified.

He touched his head as he looked around.

"*Oh, it was a dream*," the King said and got out of his bed.

He grabbed a small jar hanging on the wall of his room and recited some incantation before pouring some of the content in it into his mouth.

"*Akinwale!*", the king called one of the guards outside in a loud voice.

The guard rushed in and was surprised to see the king sweating profusely.

"*My king, your servant is here*", he announced his presence as he bow before the king.

"*Go and fetch me the oracle divinator, tell him the King's heart is troubled*", the king ordered Akinwale who left immediately to convey the king's message.

He reached the Oracle divinator's place and they both returned to the palace immediately after the message was delivered.

On their arrival at the palace, the King ordered all the guards to leave his premises and they did as instructed.

Awoyemi, the oracle divinator knew it was a serious issue for the king to have demanded so much privacy.

He brought a piece of white cloth and some cowries which he placed on the cloth. Awoyemi recited some words and asked the king the reason for the impromptu meeting.

The king narrated his dreams and even Awoyemi was terrified. He spoke to the oracles through divination and the meaning of the dream was revealed to him.

Awoyemi readjusted on the mat and stared at the king who got more disturbed by the expression on Awoyemi face.

"*What did the oracle say? This kingdom mustn't fall during my time*", the king said in a shaky voice.

"*My King put your mind at rest. There is indeed trouble but the oracle said Arepo is safe*"
Awoyemi packed the cowries and poured them on the piece of cloth again.

He continued, "*Arepo kingdom will be attacked by a powerful warrior but the oracle said, one of the children of the royal bloodline will conquer him*".

The king wasn't satisfied enough and persuaded Awoyemi to ask for the name of this royal blood who will help them beat the warrior but Awoyemi couldn't see beyond what the gods told him earlier.

He finished his job and returned to his home while the king kept pacing around in his chamber.

-------------
The morning came and the king ordered that all the sons of the royal families should be brought to the palace.

He prepared a big place for them and have his warriors train them in combat every day until they become warriors as well. The king believe that was the only way he could prepare the chosen one for the oracle's prophecy.

Many of these boys weren't pleased with the king's command but no one dared deny the king's command.

Their training went from days to weeks and even months. The boys became warriors and the king was glad because he was confident about them winning any enemy that might attack.

Years passed but there was no attack and the king became more troubled because his nightmares continued.

Awoyemi was summoned to divine the oracle and he still got the old message from the gods.

About a decade after, the news of a warrior conquering villages reached the king and he guessed the time had come.

--------------
The warriors were called on to improve their defense in case this powerful man shows up and the names of the great warriors he has conquered sent fear across many kingdoms.

Just as predicted, Fijabi the warrior decided to capture Arepo's kingdom. He left his home deep in the wilderness and traveled for days.

The journey was quite stressful and while he decided to rest under a big tree by the riverside close to the border of Arepo kingdom, a young lady approached him.

"*Hello sir*", Oyinade greeted.

Fijabi grabbed his sword immediately and Oyinade ran back.

"*I mean no harm. I am working on a nearby farm and I thought you might care for some refreshment*", she continued her discussion after moving away from Fijabi.

He looked around and saw that no one was with her. Fijabi returned his sword and walked up to her.

"*I am sorry I scared you. I have been traveling for days and I didn't know it would take me this long. I am hungry and I will be happy if you give me some food*". Fijabi replied.

Oyinade went to get some food and water for Fijabi. Her mother returned with her and they both talked for a while.

She offered Fijabi shelter for the night which he gladly took and they returned home in the dark hours of the day.

Fijabi had a sound sleep after dinner and he was touched by Oyinade's kind of hospitality. He told her to make a wish the next morning but Oyinade said she didn't wish for anything.

-------------
Fijabi stepped out of her shelter and discovered that he slept somewhere on the outskirt of Arepo, he headed for the Palace immediately.

On reaching the palace, he was allowed to see the King. Everywhere was calm until he mentioned his name, the King got scared but Fijabi didn't look like what he was expecting.

The king was expecting a man with lots of warriors behind him but it was the other way around. As planned, the King called the royal warriors to arrest Fijabi.

They tried but couldn't arrest him, he fought like a hundred men. The King began to panic seeing how tired his warriors were getting so he went to grab his sword as well.

Oyinade heard the pandemonium in the palace so she went even though she had been barred from entering the palace because they thought she was a bastard. Her mother was the King's third wife but they were sent out of the palace when one of the other queens claimed that Oyinade's mother was having an affair with a trader in the kingdom.

She got to the palace and saw the man she helped yesterday fighting like a god. Oyinade was terrified seeing the King trembling with the Fijabi sword to his neck.

Oyinade ran into the fight and knelt before Fijabi. "*I have a wish to make*," she said while bowing in front of Fijabi.

Everyone was surprised and Fijabi paused immediately after he saw her.
"*What do you want young lady*", he asked.

She continued,"*my father is the King of this Kingdom and I want you to spare us*".

Fijabi turned his back on Oyinade and he didn't believe because a princess shouldn't be working on a farmland.

He asked why she was working on the farm and Oyinade narrated the story.

Fijabi was touched and agree to spare their kingdom.

Oyinade left the palace with Fijabi, she walked with him to the border and even told him to come to visit again whenever he is free. Fijabi thanked her for tending to him and they parted ways.

The king was shocked at how things went and when he recovered from the injuries he got while fighting, he sent for Oyinade and her mother.

He apologized to them and made them return to the palace.

---------------
Awoyemi visited the palace and the king told him the gods were right but they misunderstood the god's message.

Fijabi was conquered not by the sword but by the kindness of Oyinade that touched his heart.

Oyinade kindness paid off, the king actually thought the warrior was someone they could conquer with weapons.

Thanks for the compliments, the article belongs to me and it wasn't copied from anywhere.

Everything was written by me, I just decided to go more traditional with my story this time.

Thank you for verifying, @george-dee. We have had many challenges with plagiarism, even from seasoned writers we have come to trust.

This is a good story. Well done.
