## I opened a new, blank session last night,
<div class="pull-right">https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/grapthar/23uEzFtKRvBZwUSwsLrC942Cv6hhoBDPwJhQLYUwkRorH8u73rA8NnQq7LzpamUBoem2Y.png<center><b>Spectral Resonator, w/ Randomized Feeq. and Decay settings (using Ableton/Max LFOs)</b></center></div><div class="text-justify">and set the BPM very high, to 176 specifically, and chose 13/8, with the intention of making something weird, fast, and spastic.  However, I wound up with something entirely NOT that, though I still like the idea quite a bit.  It's pretty rough still, but I like the direction thus far.  Tracks 2 and 3 are the drums, and the hats in Track 2 use a pattern I made through <a href="https://nestup.cutelab.nyc/">NestUp</a>, a Max for Live tool that allows you to create all sorts of weird nested tuplets and rhythms.  I made a pattern in it that was SUPER fast, but when after trying it with the hats, I slowed it down by 4x, and that wound up being (mostly) the pattern used, with a few edits here and there to fit certain hits with the kicks and snares.  Track 4 adds a piano, which essentially just plays a i chord and Vi, in 3 different keys, descending by minor 3rds: first Dminor, then Bminor, then G#minor, and finally Bminor again.  Track 5 adds some little beepy sounds, I believe from my Cypher2 demo.</div>

## Track 6 is our bass part, 
<div class="text-justify">which just sticks to root notes, using a Max for Live instrument called 'Quad', which has four oscillators, which you can pan in different directions, and with each note played, it shuffles through them, which creates the ping-pong sort of effect.  With this instrument, I used Ableton's Utility tool, and turned on the 'Bass Mono' setting at 500 Hz; so anything below 500 Hz (all the bassy stuff) is a mono single, unaffected by the wild panning.  All the stuff above it still pans all over the place, so you get that effect, without any of the bass signal moving around and getting weird and muddy in the speakers.  Track 7 is the last instrument here, which uses a synth that plays single notes, which after recording to audio, I reversed.</div>
