How Do We Defend Hive Price?

One thing has become abundantly clear to me in my 2 years here&mdash; there are not enough incentives on Hive to build and retain stake.<br>
Sure, I can wax poetic about community, friendship, and the joy of sharing our lives here. Unfortunately, these things alone are not enough for most to feel invested in building HP.<br>
This is evidenced by the surge of power-ups on HPUD, and the huge lack of them the rest of the month. Perhaps the Hive Power Up Day mindset should be encouraged every day. Hoping to inspire authors to build, or at least retain stake, the vision for @hive-up was born.<br>

<center><b>What is Hive-up?</b></center><br>
Founded by @yaziris and myself, Hive-up is a project that aspires to push Hive price up by supporting authors who are growing their stake on chain. We hope to amp up excitement surrounding HP growth in doing so. You can read the project's full introduction post <a href="https://peakd.com/hive-up/@hive-up/hive-up-curation-vision">here</a>.<br>
We have a number of wonderful curation projects on chain which I believe are integral to keep the whole ship afloat. However, before now we did not have a project that exclusively uplifted authors who are investing in the blockchain. This may be a dire need.<br>
With Mt. Gox liquidating a massive amount of Bitcoin, we believe it is more important than ever to fight for Hive. This is not just a social media or blogging platform, it is a home. Hive-up is dedicated to defending Hive price with one of the best weapons we have&mdash; the curation of quality authors.<br>
Although it would be remiss of me to lay out our exact curation guidelines, I'll give as much detail as I can here. Our top priority is encouraging authors to build and retain stake by posting quality content, powering up, and in general being awesome. We will not curate those who have excessively powered down, nor will we support those who are not in good standing with the community.<br>

Much like we support native bug populations by enriching the ecosystem, we should support the Hive by giving the bees plentiful plant life to make honey with.<br>
If you are not an analogy person, I'll say it simply. Without incentives to increase stake, we are unlikely to see many Hivians motivated to grow their accounts.<br>
So, what makes us so confident that we have the chops to launch a project with such ambition?<br>

Yaz is a dev, community leader, and constant helper. Although he prefers not to spotlight this assistance, I see him taking the time to answer questions and help others along on a regular basis here on the blockchain.<br>
In addition to that, he developed @hivediscomod, which currently assists community curation in over 60 servers! Since developing this helpful bot, he has added many functionalities to it, most notably curation rewards payouts. This has helped to boost community account VP while rewarding those who support their favorite hubs here on chain.<br>

What can I say about myself? I love this blockchain and have been dedicated to growing my own stake here since I joined.  I quickly was brought into the world of curation, and have been a community leader ever since. I currently assist in 4 communities, and curate for a number of projects across the blockchain.<br>
Although I am but a fiction writer, mother, and general dork, I was able to rapidly grow my account here on chain thanks to the support of those who have been here a while. After hitting minnow and then dolphin in my first year here, I found a huge inspiration to help others do the same.<br>

I like the sound of this ! 

So far I've never powered down any of my HP, although I must admit I nearly wobbled with all the recent turmoil.

I've sent a small delegation - sorry it's not very big at this stage, but I'm already using (probably over-using....) my vote power as fully as I can already !

To my mind, a key thing has to be not just to help existing Hivers, it's to bring in new ones. With any luck, they'll invest some fiat over time, which helps support the price of HIVE and brings in much-needed market capital. For that, I feel that actual earnings are nice but secondary; what's important is to give people the tools to write, and (most especially) the encouragement to do so. I always value comments from people who've done more than just skim-read what I've created !

I understand that this is a personal opinion and a statement of personal intentions, each person should and can cure as he/she pleases.

What community? What is it to be in good standing with the community? 
Because maybe it is the language barrier, but it can be understood as those who criticize, who do not support projects of others and although their HP is maintained and increased, they do not actively participate in projects.

Well, in my opinion and I have always said it, you can NOT support anything just because it is made by Hivers, not everything done here is good.

To incentivize the Stake of all users in exchange for votes, is to tell them that they must help the currency to increase the price, and to continue creating content with the faith that this will benefit everyone. Is there any certainty that with this the price will go up again? the answer is NO.

I have been here since Steemit and what they are proposing is nothing new, it has already been done, it has already been tried, in fact it is a project like this that leads to the Power-Up days that even HiveBuzz sponsors, it is not what people want and to think that it is functional is not knowing the Hive user, in a platform without advertising, elitist and with such a small amount of users, people create content here for the luck of receiving big votes and quickly accumulate an amount of money that they can withdraw before it goes down, if they did it to create community, to save or for fun, I would understand the motion and fully support it, but it is not the bulk of the population of Hive who think so, what proves it? The large number of accounts that since 2019 to date became inactive after the falls of our currency.

Here I intended to refer to the blockchain at large. I feel that this is one big community, like a village or small town. To be in good standing can certainly take on many meanings. 

I would say that an author in good standing is anyone who is posting original content and putting in effort. I do not believe that you have to actively support every project or keep your opinions to yourself to be in good standing... In fact, it seems that many outspoken people have a great love for Hive.

What you said in this paragraph resonates. I cannot deny that this is not just the nature of Hivers, but also humans in general. However, I see a lot of examples in the other direction too. Authors who become friends, who find value in their time here outside of a vote. The ultimate success of Hive perhaps rests in our ability to pull in more of this...

For my part, HPUD motivated me to grow my stake here. I believe in the vison of elevating not just our currency, but the whole of Hive, together. Much like HPUD offers prizes to those who are growing stake, I believe that a project that seeks to elevate authors who are growing here has a chance at generating power-up excitement. Everyone loves milestones when the markers are celebrated it seems.

Summer is going well.  Been down to AZ a couple times to visit my folks.  the oldest turned 21 last month and has been hanging around home for a bit before she heads back to Eugene.  

The youngest (13 years old) was really pushing for us to make a family trip to the coast this summer, so we are doing that this weekend, so excited, I LOVE the Oregon coast (and the ocean in general)!
