Hello once again hivers, yes, this is the second post I'm doing this week, it's already something surprising even for myself, and it's that after doing my usual disappearances, I've mentalized myself to do more pieces a week, instead of just one art a month, and for that I've taken the Radaquest art contest as an impulse.

Last week I took a fierce warrior and painted her, this time I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, as I have found myself painting only women usually, but I also love to make muscular warriors, as I use it as a pretext to exercise and thus use myself as a reference, and if you are an artist I recommend you to do it because it is a very good excuse to leave the sedentary lifestyle and also improve in your art.

Back to the subject, he is Sylae, a native american warrior who is very good at attacking with his bow from the saddle of his horse, I feel he is very environmentally friendly, but to maintain the cycle of life others must die, and they will die because of his bow and arrows.

<p>As I'm a fan of dynamic poses and scenes that show action and movement, I took off from the Radaquest art reference where Sylae is calmly standing next to his horse and decided to put him riding while holding his bow and arrow ready to shoot.

Because I envision this piece as western art, I went for a warm colour palette that contrasts with a very strong blue sky, so I could cut out the silhouette of the rider and his horse and give them as a direct focal point for the viewer. 
</p>

Something that really worried me was to paint the horse correctly, as I don't usually paint animals and what's more, I think that in the last 4 years this is the second horse I paint, so I looked for several references of wild horses that could give me that air of uncontrollable animal, also you can see that this time I spent enough time to define correctly the figure of the hair in the sketch, because I didn't want to find myself in the painting process improvising the pose and anatomy of the animal because I knew it would be something very difficult to resolve.

I couldn't forget the most distinctive part of the character, his body paint, for that I used the multiply fusion mode, that way I could keep the shape of the muscles, but then I painted normally to better define the details, I also painted the horse's spots to follow the design of the reference and also to be more attached to the horse's coat pattern.

And I finally worked on the background, this one I made very simple just by adding a big cloud behind the characters, but the perspective I had chosen for the scene was that the view would point to the sky behind the characters, but in turn it was a good accompaniment since the painting became a portrait of a fierce rider and his wild mount. And how to make the horse reflect its wild freedom? Freeing him from bondage, since I decided not to draw him straps or stirrups, Sylae rides him naked so to speak, thus making him the only one worthy of riding such a wonderful beast full of spots
