Hello everyone on Hive!!! Today I would like to try to write about a food that has my passion in it yet I have to control my intake of it...


## Instant Noodles!!!!!!


Okay I don't think everyone has a craving for instant noodles because it is unhealthy! And secondly, it is fattening!!!! Hence why I spread out my tasting over a period of time and not constantly snacking on it. 


Whenever I feel a bit tired or need extra energy for my upcoming classes in the morning, I tend to go search for instant noodles. I have grown tired of some local brands which they are tasty too but I miss instant noodles from China. Well basically most snacks and food from China can catch my interest because of their flavours which is above the average tasty!!!! Maybe because they have some special ingredients added in like cumin, Sichuan peppercorns, or just their seasonings that is not like the usual local instant noodles.

## Here are 5 types that I have tried in the span of 3 months: 
*(I will try my best to translate it from Chinese descriptions or names. Should there be any discrepancies, please forgive me and don't stone me okay?*)


**Wuhan Hot Dried Noodles**

This noodles is one that I have tried most recently. It comes with the dried noodles, 3 seasonings and a fork.

The instructions asked me to soak the noodles in the container with boiling hot water for 6 minutes, then drain the water off to leave the noodles inside the container. After that add in the seasonings.

Adding in the 3 seasonings. There is one pack of seasoning that caught my attention - **Peanut butter**!

Then I quickly added the other 2 seasoning packs because peanut butter in noodles is just making me curious how it may taste like.

Mixed it well.

Ready to dig in! Okay the taste was really really surprisingly good. I have never eaten peanut butter in my noodles so if you have, please share your thoughts too on it. It makes me keep going for the next mouthful. I wish the peanut butter is not that hard in solid so perhaps it may mix the noodles better but overall the taste was really good as it gave an earthy taste to the noodles.

Of course I finished everything. I give this instant noodles a **4 out of 5**!

Next up - **Dry Noodle in Scallion Oil**!

This is broad noodles called 面皮 which was my first try. I was also looking forward to it because our local scallion oil noodles taste good too.

I was curious to compare between what I am already familiar with and this noodle that may have a surprising taste from China. So it comes with the broad noodles, an oil pack, secret ingredient mixing sauce and a vegetable pack, I believe.

Firstly, like every instant noodle, add in the boiling water.

Drain it off after 5 minutes then add in the seasonings packs.

The mixing sauce has a vinegar smell in it so it makes me wonder how it may taste like.

Mix it well. I shared this with my husband and he was so happy to taste some Sichuan peppercorns taste in it though this noodle isn't spicy hot. It just have a very nice fragrance in it. I give it a **3 out of 5**. I do like the broad noodles as I find it more chewy in texture compared to the usual curly thin noodles.

Then I tasted the "sibling" to the above mentioned Scallion Oil Dry Noodles. This is the **Red Oil Dry Broad Noodles.**


I had this on one occasion of my overnight staycation with a friend. I was excited to try after I tried the Scallion Oil flavoured one.

Boiled the noodles in boiling hot water.

Added in the ingredients and also seasoning packs. The oil pack here is more reddish in colour so I was expecting a "kick" to my tastebuds.

Wow I love this sooooo much! It was a bit spicy but it made me non stop eating it and I was even thinking about it after I had consumed the whole thing. It was very appetizing and delicious too, like a feast in my mouth. The peppery finish and also the oil's fragrance just kept making me thinking of repurchasing it again for my husband to try too.

This gets my **5/5**!

Now let me go with something milder. This is **Instant Ramen in Miso**. I bought this for my friend as she doesn't eat spicy food.

It comes with a vegetable pack, a seasoning pack and a special pack to add on after we boil the noodles for 3 minutes.

So let's boil the noodles to cook it after adding in the first 2 packs. This is one of the most colourful instant noodles I have eaten. That white pieces which I am not sure if it is some sort dehydrated tofu pieces became very delicious.

Tadaaaaa! It is ready to eat after adding the after-cook pack.

I think the broth is very rich and tasty. It doesn't taste like the typical Japanese Ramen but it is nice to have on a cold rainy day.

Last but not least, **Instant Rice Vermicelli in Chicken Broth**. If you have been to China, you know it is famous for their rice vermicelli or 过桥米线 in Chinese. I have tasted se really good ones when I visited KunMing in the Southern China Province a decade ago. This is what attracted me to buy this instant noodles, perhaps to find back some nostalgia feeling hahaha.

This instant rice vermicelli is simpler compared to the others. It only comes with 2 ingredients.

One of the packs is a thick concentrated paste, almost like chicken stock so I was guessing this will be the main pack flavouring the soup.

Added water and it was waiting time for about 4 minutes.

This was not bad though not as delicious as the real ones I remembered from China. The chicken broth was heartwarming so I give it a **3 out of 5**. I like the rice vermicelli's texture.

### Well that is all for my instant noodles tasting for this round. Overall, instant noodles from China is nice and worth-trying. They are also highly creative and innovative to make their flavours stand out. I am always intrigued to try them. Do you have some weird cravings for instant noodles like me?? But remember, processed food are not to be consumed always as it is not that healthy to our bodies so we must bear that in mind too. (And fattening too.)
