Under Construction - Ants Building a Nest

<div class=pull-left>Under Construction, that's the title of the post! And that's exactly what you'll see here. A genus of ants, which I identified as <del>Iridomyrmex</del>*, was building its nest in the ground when I found the colony. </div>
<div class=pull-right>Under Construction, das ist der Titel des Beitrages! Und genau so werdet ihr es hier sehen. Eine Ameisengattung, die ich als <del>Iridomyrmex</del>*, identifiziert habe, baute ihr Nest in der Erde, als ich die Kolonie gefunden habe. </div>

<div class=pull-left>Actually, I'm not too interested in ants. I don't find it particularly exciting to watch them dragging finds back to the nest. But here I was lucky again to observe something special.  </div>
<div class=pull-right>Eigentlich interessiere ich mich nicht zu sehr für Ameisen. Ich finde es nicht sonderlich spannend ihnen zuzusehen, wie sie Fundstücke zurück in das Nest schleppen. Hier hatte ich aber schon wieder Glück etwas Besonderes beobachten zu können. </div>

From above, it all didn't look very organized. Sometimes I could have sworn the ants come and go in groups to the surface, but I think that's just coincidence. </div>
<div class=pull-right>Von oben betrachtet sah das alles nicht sehr organisiert aus. Manchmal hätte ich schwören können, die Ameisen kommen und gehen in Gruppen an die Oberfläche, aber ich denke, das ist nur Zufall. </div>

<div class=pull-left>Ok, the following picture shows a female soldier that had shown herself. Unlike the workers, I have been able to see very few of the female soldiers. I claim now not to have to point out the female soldier. The double size is immense. Maybe the appearance of few female soldiers is a good sign, which means the ants are safe in this place.  </div>
<div class=pull-right>Ok, das folgende Bild zeigt eine Soldatin, die sich gezeigt hatte. Im Gegensatz zu den Arbeiterinnen habe ich von den Soldatinnen nur sehr wenige sehen können. Ich behaupte jetzt, nicht auf die Soldatin hinweisen zu müssen. Die zweifache Größe ist unüberschaubar. Vielleicht ist das Erscheinen von wenigen Soldatinnen ein gutes Zeichen, welches bedeutet, die Ameisen sind an diesem Ort sicher.  </div>

<div class=pull-left>Where the clods of earth are deposited seemed arbitrary. It is obvious, however, that the material was transported further and further away from the entrance. Almost as if the ants wanted to avoid creating a hill. If this is so, then it would not be arbitrary at all.</div>
<div class=pull-right>Wo die Erdklumpen abgelegt werden erschien willkürlich. Ersichtlich ist aber, dass das Material immer weiter weg vom Eingang transportiert wurden. Fast so als ob die Ameisen es vermeiden wollten einen Hügel entstehen zu lassen. Wenn dem so ist, dann wäre es gar nicht mehr willkürlich. </div>

Man muss schon sagen das es wirklich faszinierend ist,
wie fleißig die kleinen Kerlchen sind gerade im Vergleich
zu z.B. einer Spinne die sich nur bewegt wenn sie auch wirklich muss
aber naja nur im Netz zu sitzen und zu warten bringt halt kaum Kundschaft in den Laden.

Dennoch sind Insekten absolut nichts für mich!

schöne Beobachtung und Fotos! 

Bei den Ameisenarten in Mitteleuropa kenn ich mich ganz gut aus, bei Exoten komme ich auch in's Grübeln... würde hier aber auf *Camponotus singularis* oder eine ähnliche Art tippen. (Achtung, Bildersuche spuckt hier oft mehr Major-Arbeiterinnen aus, obwohl diese in einer Kolonie die Minderheit darstellen).
Auf antmaps.org könntest du per Diversity View nachschauen, ob dort, wo du die Ameisen gefunden hast, überhaupt *Iridomyrmex* oder *Camponotus spp.*  infrage kommen (bzw. welche Arten generell), die Datenbank ist *relativ* verlässlich...
Allerdings sind die Listen in vielen Ländern ganz schön lang, nur so als Vorwarnung^^

Oha, du hast recht, das könnte sie sein, Camponotus singularis. Habe mit Google eine halbe Stunde lang versucht etwas herauszufinden, und wie du schon erwähnt hast, die Liste der Datenbaken ist dermaßen groß, da weiß ich nicht einmal wo ich anfangen soll zu suchen, selbst wenn der Lebensraum bekannt ist.

Google Lens ist immer meine erste Anlaufstelle.

Edit: Iridomyrmex sieht zwar ähnlich aus, dort geht aber die rote Färbung über den Kopf hinaus. Während Camponotus singularis nur den roten Kopf hat, während der Rest des Körpers gänzlich Schwarz ist. Hätte genauer hinschauen sollen. Details :D
