Berastagi District is a popular tourist attraction in the province where I live, North Sumatra β Indonesia. Berastagi District is one of the districts in Karo Regency, and has been famous since the Dutch colonial era, opening access to the Karo Regency area for tea gardening. The people of this Dutch colonialism also made several villas and hotels because they liked the cool climate of the Berastagi District. Berastagi District is liked by Medan city residents, like me because the distance is not too far from Medan City, only about 65 km or about two hours drive. Berastagi District is at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level, making the weather in this area very cool and the air is also very fresh. Berastagi District is perfect for people who feel cramped with the city atmosphere. **Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market**   There are so many places that we can visit here, if we really want to write about this district every day. I probably won't run out of content this year. One of the tourist objects frequented by many people in Berastagi District is the Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market, one of the oldest traditional markets in North Sumatra which is a favorite of travelers here. For friends who may be a little strange, heard that traditional markets are becoming tourist attractions? yup, friends heard that right, it really happened. For Indonesian people, traditional markets are a favorite place to find fun things. Many Asian people, like Indonesians, go on vacation to shop and it becomes a fun way of their vacation. You don't need to be surprised, because everyone has their own way of enjoying their vacation.   At a glance from the area, this traditional market in Berastagi District looks the same as other traditional markets in Indonesia. One thing that makes it extremely different is that in Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market we will find lots of horse-drawn carriages and horse-drawn carriages. Horses and horse carriages are one of the favorite attractions for tourists, usually women will shop at the market, husbands will accompany their children around the Berastagi District area by horse. The price offered is also not too expensive, still very cheap. Aside from the horse and delman, for me Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market has always been my favorite market. Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market is a market that is clean, orderly and not muddy. The majority of Indonesia's traditional markets are the opposite: they are dirty, messy and muddy. **Fresh Fruits and Vegetables**    Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market is a place for people or tourists who are looking for souvenirs to take home. Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market sells various souvenirs such as clothes, key chains or other necessities. In addition, here we will find fresh and very tasty local fruits, all of these fruits are products from local farmers in this district. Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market is our place to find delicious and high-quality fresh local fruit, of course at a lower price than modern markets in the city. Since ancient times, local people living in Berastagi District and Karo Regency have worked as vegetable and fruit farmers. The location of Berastagi District, which is at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level, makes it very suitable for vegetable and fruit plantations. In addition, the land in Berastagi District is also very fertile land. Berastagi District is a hilly area surrounded by two active volcanoes, without the need to study geology or soil science. We know how the fertility of the soil in an area around the location of this volcano.   Lots of fruit that we can find here. You can see from the photos I took, namely avocado, mango, orange, persimmon, marqisa, Cypriot eggplant, etc. For oranges and marqisa, there are two fruits which are trademarks of Berastagi District. Berastagi oranges are very well known not only in North Sumatra, but also throughout Indonesia.  Every day, oranges from Berastagi District are also sent to various cities on Java Island such as Jakarta, Bandung or Surabaya. On Java Island, Jeruk Berastagi is often referred to as Jeruk Medan because people outside the province of North Sumatra often think that Berastagi District is still part of Medan City. Apart from fruit, vegetables from the Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market are also a favorite for visitors to this traditional market. In fact, I heard that there are several people from Medan City who go to the Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market every week or weekend to buy fresh vegetables and stock them at their homes.   Actually, the majority of vegetable production from vegetable farmers in Berastagi District is also sent to Medan City markets. Because of that, sometimes I also don't understand why I have to go all the way here just to buy vegetables. **Beautiful flower** Apart from fruits and vegetables, many visitors also come to the Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market to look for flowers. In the center of the market, we will find many flower sellers. All the flowers that are sold look beautiful and must be liked by many mothers. In fact, not all of these flowers can be brought to the lowlands. In my experience, flowers that are bought and brought back to Medan City often wilt because the weather is too extreme.   Okay, that's all the story of my journey in Berastagi Traditional Fruit Market.
