The Holy Bible tells us of the story of the tower of Babel, where God scattered abroad the people (with one language) that united and built a tower to the heavens. Nature and the world at large are full of mysteries, and some things remain undiscovered. Man, however, is in constant pursuit of making discoveries and perhaps innovations to beat the laws of nature.

Over the centuries, we have seen significant progress in science and technology, making life much easier and occasionally at the detriment of other aspects of nature's balance. Would we then say that science is trying to upturn the balance of nature? I would still maintain that science has done more good than harm, except for a few research studies.

BIOLOGICAL WEAPON

The COVID-19🦠😷 is a typical example of how the world can be destroyed by a single virus. And scientists have quite a handful of similar viruses which may be more deadly than COVID-19🦠😷. Viruses can be mutated (have their DNA sequences changed) into more virulent organisms. Thus, a few set of people or a nation can have these organisms at their disposal such that the world would be at their mercy. Hopefully, there are regulations to these innovations and research such that humanity's safety is held paramount.

HUMAN CLONE

Do we really need another set of individuals when one already exists? Every creation is special and has a destiny to fulfill. Cloning is an advancement of science and technology, yet its relevance to human existence fails to win my reasoning. Would the clone be better than me, just as average as me, or even less? The creation and reproduction of humanity should remain one of those mysteries that should not be disrupted. I will not fail to acknowledge the immense contributions of genetics and biotechnology. The world has seen improvements in the production of drugs and food preservatives.

The impact of science in the field of medicine has continued to gain momentum. We have had twin separations and many other novel achievements. We have had artificial parts of the body that have even worked, just like the biological or natural organs in the body. These are very welcome innovations. However, the need for strict ethical guidance is needed, as scientists have been known to attempt to regulate the human population. The human head transplant is in the pipeline as studies reveal efforts to have this done. Perhaps every human part can be replicated and transplanted. Would life thus be prolonged? 




SCIENCE AND AGRICULTURE

The world continues to battle with hunger and diseases; however, the former is common to all. Science has brought improvements to agricultural mechanization and also improved farm produce. I wish I could say science should find a cure to hunger, but that would only be in literal terms. Science should focus more on natural food production to curb the earth's hunger rate.
