Whenever I talk to new people on social media who live outside of Valencia, Venezuela, and they find out that I live here, they ask with curiosity: "Do you go to the beach every weekend?" It’s strange how, for some unexplained reason, everyone thinks the beach is right around the corner where I live, when that's not the case. Still, I can’t deny that escaping the city's hustle and bustle is very common. Nothing recharges my energy quite like gazing at the sea in all its splendor. Honestly, I’m not a fan of going on holidays; the traffic becomes unbearable, and that tends to irritate me deeply.

> Siempre que hablo con personas nuevas en redes sociales que viven fuera de Valencia, Venezuela, y descubren que resido aquí, me preguntan con cierta curiosidad: "¿Vas todos los fines de semana a la playa?" Es curioso cómo, por alguna razón inexplicada, todo el mundo piensa que la playa está a la vuelta de la esquina donde vivo, cuando en realidad no es así. Sin embargo, no puedo negar que es muy común buscar escape del bullicio de la ciudad. Nada recarga la energía como contemplar el mar en su máximo esplendor. Ciertamente, no soy amante de ir en días feriados; el tráfico se vuelve insoportable, y eso suele irritarme profundamente.





Recently, my friends criticized me and sent me a meme that said: "Everyone has that friend who acts interested and then steps away from the group when they go to the beach." The image made me smile, partly because of how absurd and sometimes incomprehensible I can be, but also because it reflects a truth I carry deep inside: my constant need to find my space. Every moment I spend in the sea, in each view, in each wave breaking ashore, I see those unscripted moments—the life that unfolds without a script, that film without a defined setting, this ongoing journey of existence that embraces us and challenges us.

> En estos días, mis amigos me criticaron y me enviaron un meme que decía: "Todo el mundo tiene un amigo que se hace el interesante y se aparta del grupo cuando van a la playa." Es una imagen que me provoca una sonrisa, en parte por lo absurdo y a veces incomprensible que puedo ser, pero también porque refleja una verdad que llevo grabada: mi necesidad constante de encontrar mi espacio. En cada momento en el mar, en cada vista, en cada ola que rompe, veo esa fotografía sin guion que es la vida misma, esa película sin un escenario definido, ese tránsito continuo en esta existencia que nos abraza y nos desafía.

Gradually, I listen to how others’ stories echo within my mind. At that moment, I want to document, to capture every element, every instant, so they can endure over time. Whenever I see those pictures, I smell that salty water, and I feel a profound joy—a deep connection to that vast universe we call the ocean: its animals, its corals. As my mother always says, the sea also takes away bad vibrations, those negative energies that seek to make themselves present—as if the ocean has its own healing power. Its people, their stories, the constant movement of its currents—everything is part of this endless narrative that invites us to reflect on our place in this world.

> Poco a poco, escucho cómo las historias de los demás se convierten en ecos dentro de mi mente. En ese instante, deseo documentar, atrapar cada elemento, cada instante, para que perdure en el tiempo y en la memoria. Cuando veo esas fotos, huelo esa agua salada, y me inunda una alegría profunda, una conexión con ese universo tan vasto que llamamos océano: sus animales, sus corales. Siempre diría mi madre que el mar también se lleva las malas vibras, esas energías negativas que buscan hacerse presentes, como si el océano tuviera su propio poder sanador. La gente, las historias, el movimiento constante de sus corrientes, todo forma parte de esa narrativa infinita que nos invita a reflexionar sobre nuestro lugar en este mundo.
