One of the ways which we tend to live through our mistakes and shortcomings is **having a scapegoat**, creating the perfect picture, the perfect cause or the perfect scenario through which we can base our actions, decisions and choices. **This is a coping mechanism** which we shouldn't feel guilty of. Truth is, everything in life desires a cause. Without reason, we cannot find a purpose. There's always a need to find a foundation, a root source to base all of our actions whether they're right or wrong. Without it, we would be lost in the myriad of mindlessness. Having the reason for taking a particular action or decision helps us find correlation. **Without correlation, we don't attain orderliness and when we don't attain orderliness,** we become erratic, lost and out of control. Making mistakes in life is not the problem. One of the reasons why we do it *right* after getting it *wrong* is because there's the opportunity to scrutinize, simplify or go back to the drawing board so that we can actually do better. But when we don't find a reason for taking an action, there's no foundation to understanding where we have done it rightly and where we have totally missed it. This is why it's important to find a cause. To find something to hold responsible. A lot of people blame their heart for falling in love. *Why not?* It's a coping mechanism. People have diverse coping mechanism, it helps them live through the bad choices they've made even if when what they deem to be the cause of their mistakes isn't even the cause.

Sometimes I wake up each day, I take a look at my environment, my society, I read through the patterns and there's this **sameness**, many people do not want to be responsible for their actions. They want to blame it on grief, the need to be rid of pain and some blame it one being poor, others, dejected, miserable and in pains, while so many others blame it on ignorance. When people blame their mistakes on ignorance it is quite baffling, this is because no one is truly ignorant. It's either we choose to be knowingly or unknowingly ignorant. Ignorance doesn't come by default, it's not in our anatomy, **we're designed to be knowledgeable,** unless we choose to live in the dark. Choosing to live in ignorance is another coping mechanism through which a lot of people used to live through their actions. Irrespective of our quest to attain self responsibility, when people do not see a need to be responsible, it gives them the illusion of freedom without the fear of repercussions. One of the reasons I was always at loggerheads with my father when he was alive was because he always feigned ignorance when he'd made a particular wrong decisions with **rippling consequences**. What I call rippling consequences is that actions taken by a person, but the consequence are felt by not that person but the immediate person within range. I have come to see ignorance as a coping mechanism. *A lot of people loves the freedom to do what they want but fear the resultant consequence,* they want to take actions provided the consequence will not affect them but others. Nevertheless, the knowledge alone that each and every action would have a reaction, whether negative or not is why we cannot blame or use ignorance as a coping mechanism because it is totally selfish and wrong.

It's important that we feel the **need** to have a **limit.** When you choose to review your actions, it gives you the reason to procrastinate even before you take that action. Whilst I lived amongst a lot of people who always chose to blame ignorance for their actions, I have suffered rejection for trying to take responsibility for each of my every action. Some would ask me to look away when I spot a red flagged. I've been called a *pessimist* for being *thorough*. But then we shouldn't try to follow a pattern that's wrong, simply because *choosing* to be right would bring *stigma*. It's not a new thing to be stigmatized for wanting to do things differently and rightly. However, it can be difficult, we're all humans, perfect to a fault, susceptible to mistakes and open to change.

### Image source: [1](https://pixabay.com/photos/newton-s-cradle-balls-sphere-action-256213/), [2](https://pixabay.com/illustrations/cause-effect-causation-blame-5666661/), [3](https://pixabay.com/illustrations/ignorance-arrogance-bias-1993615/)

> **Interested in some more of my works?**
##### [Why Do Nigerians Choose To Dye Their Hair? >**A lot of people loves the freedom to do what they want but fear the resultant consequence, they want to take actions provided the consequence will not affect them but others.** There is a culture of *non-liability* that starts with the Governments and then to the Corporations that influence them. The game is passing the buck and plausible deniability. The common people are directly affected by this game or rather added rules to the rat race if you will. People are left with the choice to survive in a system that lacks liability. It presents a situation where you can do whatever as long as you can place blame on others. Surely it is what is observed by us that our leaders are doing. Once lack of liability is embraced and embodied by the common man; they quickly benefit from lying or living in ignorance that was learned through observation. It starts at the top. A healthy society and individual accepts responsibility for their own actions, especially how it impacts others. Morning from Las Vegas btw😅

I totally agree with you, however before the government *was*, people *were*. For some people they chose to be utterly irreponsible to a fault. However, the system, the setting can play a huge role. Like you said. However how many healthy Societies do we have in the world? Probably a few, however we must learn that we shouldn't base our principles on the system, if everyone choose to cultivate positive tendencies irrespective of the system, I'll say it would make a difference a bit. At the end of the day, we make up the system sometimes the change will begin with us choosing to be responsible. However there are a lot of perspectives to this, stunning view from you, it challenged me to think a lot.

There is the saying, "ignorance of the law is no excuse." A court won't consider ignorance as a defense. Ignorance comes with a built-in requirement that we find out. In fact, science is built on ignorance that must be remedied. On the opposite side of that, there are so many laws that it is likely we are guilty of doing something if we look hard enough. And if we stop doing it, it's probably illegal too. There is the other saying, "ignorance is bliss". I take that to mean that ignorance is great while you can get away without consequence.

Well we must not even see ignorance as bliss except in some certain aspects of life. Truth is, we can only choose to feign ignorance, we're not truly ignorant, except when we seem not to want to get out of the dark. Apart from the law not seeing ignorance as an excuse that is admissible, deep down inside of us, on our heart and mind we shouldn't as well. We should understand consequences as a reaction that comes as a result of our actions.

In this world, everyone has course for his/her action, either good or bad. This cause is what will keep you going or keep you active in what you are doing. Sometimes, you might feel relax just like a student, but the cause that he/she left home to achieve will keep him moving and if he later caught in examination malpractice, then he/she must be responsible for the action. ---
Posted via [proofofbrain.io](https://www.proofofbrain.io/@psalm111/qxbgdp)
