Mudding, Sanding and Trim
Now that we have this new community, I may have a little catching up to do. Until then, here is a small update on my house progress. Since we we've replaced the foundation and floor, some of the smaller details have been getting the attention.

![20200429 06.55.36 2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/justinmullet/yGtmWYnj-2020-04-292006.55.36202.jpg)
### Drywall
This small wall on front of the bathroom and closet, had crown molding and other trim around all the joints and corners. The trim was mostly broken, or had several gunky layers of paint, so I decided to take it down and patch and/or replace the drywall.

![20200429 06.55.42 1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/justinmullet/8cDGdItd-2020-04-292006.55.42201.jpg)

This picture was before I sanded, after taping the corner and applying the second layer of mud. I probably used way too much mud, but the wall was in pretty rough shape, and im this little of an area, I thought it would look best to really plaster it, and then give it a good sanding later.

![20200429 06.55.38 2.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/justinmullet/pd7GXckE-2020-04-292006.55.38202.jpg)

I put the the trim around the door, but it's an unusual width compared to the rest of the trim in my house, and I think the crown molding looks weird on such a low ceiling and this close above the door. I think I'll rip it out, tape corners and patch the drywall, them reinstall a proper width piece of trim.

### Beams
I was originally going to case this beam in wood, with the leftover Lenga floorboards we tore out. However I decided to just drywall it, and I'm happy with how it turned out.

*More on beam casings in another post*

### Trim
The trim is just cheap home center pin, sanded kind of roughly, stained an oak color, and varnished with Varathane polyurethane.

I'll make sure to post some after photos here when this small corner is completed.

When we bought the house we were pretty sure that the foundation was built very poorly, and expected we'd eventually have to fix it. The floor was built on thick beams that were setting on wooden upright posts stuck into the ground. For the first 50 years it was fine, but as wood does, they were beginning to rot, and eventually we would've had big problems. There was no concrete in the entire foundation. So basically we took the floor, and formed and poured a new foundation around the entire perimeter. I'll have to write a post with photos showing the whole process.
