# <center>El Toro de Wall Street/ Wall Street Bill</center>

Mi amigo Alfred Müller me encargó realizar un toro de Wall Street, que en las finanzas representa el alza económica. Me explico que eso se debe a que el toro en su ataque golpea con los cuernos hacia arriba. En cambio el oso, representa la baja por la forma del ataque con su garra. 

>My friend Alfred Müller commissioned me to make a Wall Street bull, which in finance represents the economic upswing. He explained to me that this is due to the fact that the bull in his attack strikes upwards with his horns. The bear, on the other hand, represents the fall because of the way it attacks with its claw.

Antes de comenzar a dibujar el primer boceto yo investigué un poco a cerca de la historia de la escultura que iba a  interpretar así como su escultor.  Resulta que fue realizada por Arturo Di Modica y entregada como una regalo a la ciudad de Nueva York después de la crisis bursátil de 1987. La colocaron el 15 de diciembre de 1989 sin permiso de las autoridades de la ciudad. Fue realizada en bronce y pesa 3200 kg, lo que me hace imaginarme la grúa que tuvieron que utilizar para trasladarla.
 
Una vez entendida la historia de la escultura  y su significado, me dispuse a estudiar su forma para dibujar los bocetos. Como aún no cuento con los recursos para ir a estudiarla en físico, tuve que recurrir al internet y seleccionar una de tantas imágenes que existen. 

>Before starting to draw the first sketch I did some research about the history of the sculpture that I was going to interpret as well as its sculptor.  It turns out that it was made by Arturo Di Modica and given as a gift to the city of New York after the 1987 stock market crisis. It was placed on December 15, 1989 without permission from the city authorities. It was made of bronze and weighs 3200 kg, which makes me imagine the crane they had to use to move it. 
Once I understood the history of the sculpture and its meaning, I set out to study its shape in order to draw the sketches. As I still do not have the resources to study it physically, I had to resort to the internet and select one of the many images that exist.

El primer boceto lo realicé utilizando una imagen donde se ve la cabeza del toro casi de frente. Al realizarlo sentí que estaba muy bien. Cuando se lo pase a Alfred, él observó que casi no se percibía la posición de ataque. Por eso busqué una imagen de referencia en donde se viera más imponente y los cuernos tuvieran el impulso que necesitaba representar. Al realizar el segundo boceto me sentí avergonzada del primero porque se ve muy infantil.

When I made the second sketch I felt ashamed of the first one because it looks very childish.

Lo siguiente fue pasarlo al bastidor. Esta vez no realice pruebas de color como normalmente suelo hacer porque quería avanzar más rápido. Había pensado en hacer el fondo rojo y con tonos cálidos, pero comencé con tonos violetas y magenta porque me habían sobrado del proyecto anterior. Así que poco a poco fui llenando el espacio con las manchas que me gusta tanto hacer, siguiendo la forma del toro y tratando de darle más movimiento ascendente para los cuernos.
>The next thing to do was to transfer it to the frame. This time I didn't do color tests as I usually do because I wanted to move faster. I had thought of making the background red and with warm tones, but I started with violet and magenta tones because I had some left over from the previous project. So little by little I filled the space with the spots that I like to do so much, following the shape of the bull and trying to give it more upward movement for the horns.

El cuerpo del toro lo imaginaba color amarillo, con toques de dorado para que contrastara con el color del fondo. Primero me dediqué a representar el cuerpo y luego los detalles de la cara, con sus luces y sombras para destacar sus músculos. Me costó un poco que la cara y los ojos se vieran bien. Por suerte una amiga que es mucho mejor que yo en dibujo y anatomía me ayudo a observar mejor la estructura
>I imagined the bull's body in yellow, with touches of gold to contrast with the background color. First I dedicated myself to represent the body and then the details of the face, with its lights and shadows to highlight its muscles. I had a little trouble getting the face and eyes to look right. Luckily a friend who is much better than me in drawing and anatomy helped me to observe the structure better.

Al entregárselo a Alfred conversamos sobre el proyecto que tiene en mente sobre los símbolos financieros y cómo podemos seguir desarrollándolos. Le pedí que lo firmara también porque él era el autor intelectual de este cuadro y debía quedar constancia de ello para cuando nosotros ya no estemos.
>When I gave it to Alfred we talked about the project he has in mind about the financial symbols and how we can develop them further. I asked him to sign it also because he was the mastermind behind this painting and it should be on record for when we are no longer around.

Me gustó bastante realizar El Toro de Wall Street y pensar en la fuerza que representa para el mundo de las finanzas. Ahora quedo con la tarea de realizar mi propia interpretación de este símbolo.
