## Intro

In der Splinterlands "Share your battle Challenge" geht es diesmal um den Crypt Beetle. 

Ich gebe einen kurzen Überblick über seine Werte und danach schauen wir uns ein Turnierspiel an, bei dem er mir geholfen hat.

# Kartendetails
Crypt Beetle ist eine gewöhnliche Death Splinter Karte aus der Chaos Legion Edition. Mit 3 Mana gehört Crypt Beetle zur den günstigsten Karten. 

Die Werte von Crypt Beetle sind eher unauffällig. Auf Stufe 1 verfügbt Crypt Beetle über 1 Nahkampfschaden, eine Geschwindigkeit von 1, 1 Punkt Rüstung und 2 Lebenspunkte. 

Das markanteste ist wohl seine Shield Fähigkeit. Solange Harklaw als Reward Karte nicht zu Chaos Legion gehört, ist Crypt Beetle das einzige Death Monster mit Shield in reinen Chaos Legion Turnieren / Brawls. 

Das Shield macht auch den Haupteinsatz von Crypt Beetle möglich, dazu später mehr. 

Auf Bronze erhält unser kleiner Käfer jeweils einen Punkt Geschwindigkeit und Rüstung hinzu. 

Auf Silber zuerst einen Lebenspunkt und dann eine Steigerung des Nahkampfschadens auf 2. 

Auf Gold erhöht sich erneut die Rüstung auf dann 3 Punkte und anschließend zweimal die Lebenspunkte auf insgesamt 5. 

Auf Diamant erhöht sich erneut die Rüstung auf 4 und schlussendlich der Nahkampfschaden auf 3. 

Crypt Beetles Einsetzbarkeit ist leider stark limitiert. Bei den meisten Spielen, ist Cursed Windeku die definitiv bessere Wahl als Tank in einer Death Formation. Darüber hinaus hat Crypt Beetle keine Fähigkeit, um aus der hinteren Linie zu wirken. 

Allenfalls in Little League, oder Equalizer Spielen dürfte Crypt Beetle als Tank zum Einsatz kommen. 

Crypt Beetle glänzt aber in einer Battle Condition besonders, und das ist Super Sneak. Dort auf dem letzten Platz eingesetzt in Kombination mit dem Desintegrator ist er eine starke Kombination. 

Dies vor allem auf Bronze, da viele gegnerische Nahkämpfer auf Bronze noch einen Schaden von nur 2 verursachen und dieser durch den Disintegrator erst auf 1 und dann durch das Shield auf 0 reduziert wird.

# Card Details
Crypt Beetle is a common Death Splinter card from the Chaos Legion Edition. With 3 mana Crypt Beetle is one of the cheapest cards. 

The stats of Crypt Beetle are rather inconspicuous. At level 1, Crypt Beetle has 1 melee damage, a speed of 1, 1 point of armor, and 2 health. 

The most distinctive thing is probably his Shield ability. As long as Harklaw is not part of Chaos Legion as a Reward card, Crypt Beetle is the only Death Monster with Shield in Chaos Legion only settings. 

The Shield also makes Crypt Beetle's main use possible, more on that later. 

On Bronze, our little beetle gains one point of speed and one point of armor each. 

On Silver, first a health point and then an increase in melee damage to 2. 

On Gold, the armor increases again to then 3 points and then the health points twice to a total of 5. 

On Diamond, armor increases again to 4 and finally melee damage increases to 3.

Crypt Beetle's usability is unfortunately very limited. In most games, Cursed Windeku is definitely the better choice as a tank in a Death Formation. In addition, Crypt Beetle has no ability to work from the back line. 
<br>

At most, Crypt Beetle might be used as a tank in Little League, or Equalizer games. 
<br>

However, Crypt Beetle shines in one Battle Condition in particular, and that is Super Sneak. Used there in last place in combination with the Disintegrator, it is a strong combination. 
<br>

This is especially true on Bronze, as many enemy melee fighters still deal a damage of only 2 on Bronze, and this is first reduced to 1 by the Disintegrator and then to 0 by the Shield.

# Die Aufstellung
Das Match fand in der ersten Runde eines Scarred Hand Bronze Cup Turniers statt. Ein Turnier, bei dem nur Chaos Legion Karten, aber keine legendären Summoner eingesetzt werden dürfen. 

Bei Super Sneak setze ich entweder gerne auf Obsidian und Magie, um mich auf den gegnerischen Tank konzentrieren zu können. 

Das war hier aber nicht möglich und so habe ich mich für Thaddius Brood und Death entschieden.

Leider kann ich so von der zweiten Battle Condition Stampede nicht profitieren. 

### #1 Cursed Windeku L2
Der Standardtank für Death. Bei Super Sneak hätte man ihn auch an der letzten Position einsetzen können, aber ich habe mich hier bewusst für den Crypt Beetle entschieden, daher an Pos 1. Alternativ hätte man hier auch Alvar positionieren können, um gegnerische Magieangriffe besser zu blocken. 

### #2 Disintegrator L3
Der Disintegrator ist bei Super Sneak, Melee Mayhem und Up and Close aus meiner Sicht zwingend erforderlich. Ich setze ihn an Position 2 um ihn zwischen dem Cursed Windeku und Alvar zu schützen. 

### #3 Legionnaire Alvar L1
Einer meiner neuesten Zugänge und als 3 starker Nahkämpfer mit dabei. 

### #4 Carrion Shade L3
Ein reines Meatshield mit guter Mana / Schadenquote. 

### #5 Corpse Fiend L1
Ein reines Meatshield mit guter Mana / Schadenquote. 

### #6 Crypt Beetle L3
Auf #6 wird Crypt Beetle bei Super Sneak die meisten Angriffe abbekommen. Im Gegensatz zum Cursed Windeku verursacht er bei den Angreifern keinen Schaden. In Kombination mit dem Disintegrator ist er jedoch in der Lage den gegnerischen Schaden auf 0 oder zumindest nahezu 0 zu drücken und so deutlich länger durchzuhalten, als das Windeku.

# The Lineup
The match took place in the first round of a Scarred Hand Bronze Cup tournament. A tournament where only Chaos Legion cards may be used, but not Legendary Summoners. 
<br>

In Super Sneak, I like to use either Obsidian and Magic to focus on the opponent's tank. 
<br>

That wasn't possible here, though, so I opted for Thaddius Brood and Death.
<br>

Unfortunately, I can't take advantage of the second Battle Condition Stampede this way. 

### #1 Cursed Windeku L2
The standard tank for Death. With Super Sneak, you could have used it in the last position, but I deliberately chose Crypt Beetle here, hence at Pos 1. Alternatively, you could have positioned Alvar here to better block enemy Magic attacks. <br>

### #2 Disintegrator L3
The Disintegrator is mandatory for Super Sneak, Melee Mayhem and Up and Close from my point of view. I put him in position 2 to protect him between the Cursed Windeku and Alvar. 
<br>

### #3 Legionnaire Alvar L1
One of my newest additions and included as a 3 strong melee fighter. 

### #4 Carrion Shade L3
A pure meatshield with a good mana / damage ratio. 

### #5 Corpse Fiend L1
A pure Meatshield with good mana / damage ratio. 

### #6 Crypt Beetle L3
On #6, Crypt Beetle will get the most attacks off on Super Sneak. Unlike Cursed Windeku, it does no damage to attackers. However, in combination with the Disintegrator, he is able to push the enemy damage to 0 or at least close to 0 and thus last much longer than the Windeku.

Mein Gegner wählt eine für mich nahezu perfekte Aufstellung. Er setzt rein auf Nahkämpfer. 

Zusätzlich hat er nur einen Nahkämpfer, der mehr als 2 Nahkampfschaden verursacht. Den Flying Squid. 

Damit erhält mein Crypt Beetle nur einen Schaden pro Runde, und kann lange durchhalten. 

Er reduziert zwar auch auch meinen Nahkampfschaden, hat aber kein Monster mit Shield an der letzten Position. Shield steht Wasser in Chaos Legion nicht zur Verfügung. 

Deshalb wähle ich Kelya für Super Sneak ungern.

My opponent chooses an almost perfect setup for me. He relies purely on melee fighters. 
<br>

In addition, he has only one melee fighter that deals more than 2 melee damage. The Flying Squid. 

So my Crypt Beetle only gets one damage per turn, and can last a long time. 
<br>

It also reduces my melee damage, but doesn't have a monster with Shield at the last position. Shield is not available to water in Chaos Legion. 
<br>

That's why I reluctantly choose Kelya for Super Sneak.

In der ersten Runde erhalte ich jeweils genau einen Schaden auf meinen Front und Backline Tank. Den Rest fängt der Beetle ab. 

Gleichzeitig nehme ich den Hardy Stonefish auf #6 meines Gegner aus dem Spiel. 

Man sieht auch, dass mein Windeku einen Schaden einsteckt, aber durch den eigenen Angriff und die Fähigkeit Thorns 3 Schaden austeilt. 

Insgesamt 7:2 Schaden für mich. Ein guter Start.

In the first round I get exactly one damage each on my front and backline tank. The rest is absorbed by the Beetle. 

At the same time, I take out my opponent's Hardy Stonefish on #6. 

You can also see that my Windeku takes one damage, but deals 3 damage due to its own attack and Thorns ability.

A total of 7-2 damage for me. A good start.

In Runde zwei und drei setzt sich dies fort. 

Meine Backline vernichtet den Cruel Sethropod auf #5. 

Das Windeku erhält ein wenig Schaden. Der gegnerische Diemon Shark ist aber bereits ordentlich in Mitleidenschaft gezogen worden. 

Mein Crypt Beetle wird meinen Rücken jedoch nicht mehr lange schützen können.

My backline destroys the Cruel Sethropod on #5.

The Windeku receives a little damage. However, the enemy Diemon Shark has already taken a fair amount of damage. 

My Crypt Beetle won't be able to protect my back for much longer, though.

In Runde 4 geht zuerst mein Crypt Beetle und direkt im Anschluss mein Corpse Fiend vom Feld. 

Meine leichten Nahkämpfer werden jetzt aufgerollt.

In Runde 5 geht endlich der gegnerische Diemonshark. Im Gegenzug verliere ich mein Carrion Shade. 

Meine Backline nagt langsam am gegnerischen Disintegrator, während die gegnerische Backline sich mit meinem Alvar rumschlägt. 

Das Cursed Windeku ringt mit dem Flying Squid.

Die Runden 6 und 7 zeigen, wie meine Kämpfer sich langsam aber sicher gegen den Gegner durchsetzen. 

In Runde 8 gehen sowohl der gegnerische Disintegrator als auch der Flying Squid vom Feld. 

Mein Cursed Windeku hat über 20 Schaden ausgeteilt.

Da es ein Turnierspiel war, erhielt ich für den Sieg keine DEC. Ich kam aber in die nächste runde, wodurch ich einige SPS gewinnen konnte.

# Zusammenfassung
Der Matchplan ging komplett auf. 

In Kombination mit dem Disintegrator hat mein Crypt Beetle die Gegner so lange aufgehalten, dass mein Team sich einen großen Vorteil erarbeiten konnte. 

An der Front haben die Dornen des Windekus ebenfalls für einen deutlichen Schadensvorteil gesorgt. 

Das einzige was ich im Nachhinein ändern würde, ist Alvar auf Position 5 zu ziehen. Damit hätten sowohl der Corpse Fiend als auch der Carrion Shade noch länger wirken können, und das Spiel wäre den ein oder anderen Zug früher beendet gewesen. 

Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dieses oder ein ähnliches Setup noch öfter zu spielen. Dabei muss man aber aufpassen, dass Earth nicht verfügbar ist. 

Eine stark Magiebassierte Obsidian Fomration hätte mein Team glaube ich relativ schnell ausgeschaltet, trotz des Debuffs durch Thaddius Brood.

# Summary
The match plan worked completely. 

In combination with the Disintegrator, my Crypt Beetle held off the opponents long enough for my team to gain a big advantage. 
<br>

At the front, the Thorns of Windekus also provided a significant damage advantage. 
<br>

The only thing I would change in hindsight is to move Alvar to position 5. This would have allowed both the Corpse Fiend and Carrion Shade to last even longer, and the game would have ended a turn or two earlier. 
<br>

I could imagine playing this or a similar setup more often. But you have to be careful that Earth is not available. 
<br>

I think a heavily magic-buffered Obsidian Fomration would have shut down my team relatively quickly, despite the debuff from Thaddius Brood.
