I wasn’t hyped for the outing, all I wanted to do that day was sleep and enjoy the warmth of my pillow. But like a mosquito in the heat, KC would not allow my ears to rest with all the fun things we could do if we just went for the picnic. Like a child, he wouldn’t stop going on and on about all the fun he had in the last picnic. I really wanted to yell at him to stop, but the thought of spoiling his mood and killing his excitement left me constrained. How do I get this guy off my back was the only thought in my head, I tried to keep silent hoping an answer would come but the only thing that kept coming was KC’s continual rant about how good of an idea it would be for us to go. For him who wanted to go, he doesn’t like walking alone and would always want a familiar face whenever he is outside. But for me, even though I understand the whole fun thing and everything we would have gained from going, I just wanted to sleep that day.

Seeing there was no way of escaping the mental torture his continious rants were causing, I had to give in and just le him have this one. Although I agreed with the condition that he was going to allow me to wear his favourite shoe to the picnic which by the way was only meant to scare him off, I was disappointed when he agreed without a second thought and then I realized how much he really wanted to do this. Moving forward I decided to take advantage of the situation, and use the opportunity to get whatever I wanted from him. AT least if I am going to inconvenience myself, I better enjoy doing it right? KC on the other hand obliged to everything I requested for, from the food to the snacks and then to the drinks, he gave without complain which made me suspect something was up.

On reaching the venue, I noticed he was always looking after his shoulders and that was when I noticed his crush was sitting on the grass with her friends. Immediately we both gave each other the look that ignited the bro code with me asking him if this was really what he brought me here for, and him telling me that his sorry, but couldn’t just do it alone. Our 60 seconds look ended with a sign of defeat from me giving him permission to go meet his crush while I figured out what I wanted to do with my life in a picnic full of strangers. I used the first 10 minutes to watch my introverted friend summon up courage to speak with his crush, betting with myself on how long that conversation was going to last. To my surprise, I was defeated again because it lasted way more than expected.

Seeing how I had lost back to back, I figured it would be best if I ended the game with a win or at least tried to win something. After a 30 minute walk in what looked like an endless field with people scattered all over, enjoying a nice time. I saw a basketball court which made every fiber of my being leap for joy. I hadn’t stepped foot in one in almost two years and seeing that made my body forget every tiredness and just wanted to play. I played for straight two hours until my body could no longer move and fatigue dealt mercilessly with me while my friend enjoyed a cool evening of love with his crush.
