Dulce de higo
Huele a navidad... El clima es más frío. Anochece más temprano... La gente se alegra. Lo sientes en el aire...

También cuando vas al mercadito de verduras ves frutas de la época, lo adornos de navidad... Y provoca de todo.

Esta ves nos trajimos unos higos hermosos para hacer dulce. En mi tierra natal de Trujillo no se ven. Así que  aprovecho para preparar aquí un rico dulce.

Ingredientes
500g higo
1 L de agua
250gramos de azúcar o panela
Clavos de olor
Canela
Guayabitas 


Preparación
Lava muy bien los higos y hazle un corte en cruz en la base. Ten cuidado porque a veces bota una leche amarga.

Cuando tengas todos los higos con su corte en cruz ponlos a hervir por media hora.

Retiralo del fuego y descarta esa agua. Ahora pon de nuevo a hervir los higos pero esta vez con canela y las demás especias.

Espera 5 min y añade el azúcar o papelón. Mezcla con una cuchara de madera y déjalo por una hora

Revisa los higos se van a ir ablandando. Agita cada diez minutos hasta que veas que se pone espesa la miel y se ablande el higo.

Cuando esté listo retira del fuego y reservar en un frasco de vidrio.

Deja enfriar para consumir

 It smells like Christmas ... The weather is colder.  It gets dark earlier ... People rejoice.  You feel it in the air ...

 Also when you go to the vegetable market you see fruits of the time, Christmas decorations ... And it provokes everything.

 This time we brought some beautiful figs to make sweet.  They don't see each other in my homeland of Trujillo.  So I take the opportunity to prepare a delicious sweet here.

 Ingredients
 500g fig
 1 L of water
 250grams of sugar or panela
 Cloves
 Cinnamon
 Guayabitas


 Preparation
 Wash the figs very well and make a cross cut at the base.  Be careful because sometimes bitter milk spills.

 When you have all the figs with their cross cut put them to boil for half an hour.

 Remove it from the heat and discard that water.  Now boil the figs again but this time with cinnamon and other spices.

 Wait 5 min and add the sugar or paper.  Mix with a wooden spoon and leave it for an hour

 Check the figs they are going to soften.  Shake every ten minutes until you see the honey thicken and the fig soften.

 When ready, remove from heat and reserve in a glass jar.

How I wish I can grow that type of food here. I have tried eating figs for the first time when a Jamaican friend give me some, it's delicious but then it was preserved. I wonder what its original tastes like?

The fig sweet is one of the ones that makes me the happiest. I remember my paternal grandmother harvesting them from the fig tree in the garden, and teaching me how to prepare it, she used to say that the cross was necessary because that way the sweet was blessed, that was her belief. Whenever it was November, December, she had a big jar in the fridge, and I always asked her to serve me one, two, three... hahaha, the more the better. Thank you for bringing this beautiful recipe, which you explain in a very good way.
