There are almost 5000 km between my native country and the country where I reside, Argentina, 4992 km to be exact. I have lived in Argentina for 3 years now, and I remember the day I arrived in great detail, as if it had been yesterday. I have always believed that the first impression is the most important, and certainly my first impression of this land was equivalent to the feeling of meeting someone that we really like.

Vivo en Argentina desde hace 3 años, y recuerdo el día que llegué con mucho detalle, como si hubiera sido ayer. Siempre he creído que la primera impresión es la más importante, y ciertamente mi primera impresión de esta tierra fue equivalente a la sensación de conocer a alguien que nos agrada muchísimo.

I remember that the manager of the first place where I worked, an Argentinian lady, told me that I was welcome in Argentina and its lands if I wanted to live here for the rest of my life, since it was even stipulated in the Constitution of the Argentine Nation. As she did not remember the textual writing, she then sent me an email with the full preamble, which I paste below:

> Recuerdo que la gerente del primer sitio en donde trabajé, una señora argentina, me dijo que era bienvenido a Argentina y sus tierras si quería vivir acá el resto de mi vida, ya que estaba estipulado incluso en la Constitución de la Nación Argentina. Como no recordaba textualmente el escrito, luego me envió un mail con el preámbulo completo, que pego textualmente a continuación:

"We are the representatives of the people of the Argentine Nation, gathered in the General Constituent Congress by will and election of the provinces that compose it, in compliance with pre-existing pacts, in order to constitute the national union, strengthen justice, consolidate internal peace , provide for the common defense, promote the general well-being, and ensure the benefits of freedom, for us, for our posterity, and for all the men of the world who want to inhabit the Argentine soil: invoking the protection of God, source of all reason and justice: we order, decree and establish this Constitution, for the Argentine Nation ”

Having read "For all the men in the world who want to live on Argentine soil" made me think that maybe one day I can call this place my home.

I have always been amazed by the small details that hide the true beauty of Buenos Aires, a place where I still reside, and that I continue to discover constantly.

The next place I loved to discover was El Rosedal de Palermo. This beautiful garden is a space where anyone can perfectly go to clear their minds and also be inspired by the colors and beauty of the entire site itself. Going there was the idea of my friend James, who has lived here for 5 years already and received me upon my arrival in the country. Here are some photos I took that summer day:

Este bonito jardín es un espacio donde cualquier persona puede perfectamente ir a despejar su mente y además inspirarse con los colores y la belleza de todo el sitio en sí. The second place that I was interested in getting to know quickly was San Telmo, a neighborhood south of the City of Buenos Aires that is well known for its stone streets, and the mix of opposing architectures in the streets. It has been established as a constantly expanding historical neighborhood since the year 1600, so you could say basically is like old town Buenos Aires.. In its streets, every Sunday, there is a fair of artisans who sell their creations in a day full of music, art and colors, which gives you the feeling of a place with many stories to tell. 

> El segundo lugar que me interesé por conocer rápidamente fue San Telmo, un barrio al sur de La Ciudad de Buenos Aires que es muy conocido por sus calles de piedra, y la mezcla de arquitecturas que se contraponen en las calles. Se ha establecido como un barrio histórico constantemente en expansión desde el año 1600. En sus calles, cada domingo, tiene lugar una feria de artesanos que venden sus creaciones entre un día de música, arte y colores, lo que le da un aire de ser sitio con mucha vida, con muchas historias que contar.

The third place on my initial tour in Buenos Aires was the Floralis Generica, a very striking sculpture that is in the Recoleta neighborhood in the capital. It is controlled by hydraulic systems and plates that run on solar energy, and like some flowers, it opens when it receives sunlight and closes during periods of darkness. The name of Floralis Generica is a tribute to all flowers.

> El tercer lugar en mi tour inicial en Buenos Aires fue la Floralis Genérica, una escultura muy llamativa que está en el barrio de Recoleta en la capital. Está controlada por sistemas hidráulicos y placas que funcionan con la energía solar, y como algunas flores, se abre cuando recibe luz solar y se cierra durante los períodos de oscuridad. El nombre de Floralis Genérica es un homenaje a todas las flores.

I end my week as a tourist watching the sunset on the Costanera Norte, which runs through the neighborhoods of Palermo and Recoleta, and where I got lost walking many blocks until it was almost dark. It is the coast of the Río de la Plata with the city of Buenos Aires, and from there you can feel the fresh and humid breeze that comes from the River, which is the closest sensation to being in front of the Caribbean Sea that I know very well.

> Termino mi semana como turista viendo el atardecer en la Costanera Norte, que atraviesa los barrios de Palermo y Recoleta, y dónde me perdí caminando por muchas cuadras hasta que casi se hizo de noche. Es la costa del río de la Plata con la ciudad de Buenos Aires, y desde allí se puede sentir la brisa fresca y húmeda que viene del Río, el cuál es la sensación más cercana a estar en frente al Mar Caribe que conozco muy bien.

At that moment I realized that my life had begun a new stage, in which these places were going to be my day to day, not only the places that a tourist will visit and then return home to tell his family and friends about what beautiful and impressive this city is.

> En ese momento me di cuenta que mi vida había comenzado una nueva etapa, en la que estos lugares iban a ser mi día a día, no sólo los sitios que un turista visitará para luego regresar a casa a contarle a sus familiares y amigos sobre lo bonito e impresionante que es esta ciudad.

My love for Argentina since then has grown exponentially and I feel that I still have a lot to discover, to know, to do in this place full of life and not only in the Capital but also in any Province since it is an immense country with many natural and urban places where the energy and beauty generate this feeling of warmth that has convinced me to want to be here today.

> Mi amor por Argentina desde entonces ha ido creciendo exponencialmente y siento que me falta mucho por descubrir, por conocer, por hacer en este sitio lleno de vida y no sólo en la Capital sino también en cualquier Provincia ya que es un país inmenso con muchos lugares naturales y urbanos donde la energía y la belleza te generan este sentimiento de calidez que me ha convencido de querer estar acá hoy.

This post is dedicated to people who may be interested in coming to Buenos Aires for tourism at some future time when possible again, as well as for those outsiders who are looking for a place to start from cero, as I did.
