_The world is full of noise._

_From music people play on the road, to students fighting in the hostel, to cars running in the middle of the night, to trailers honking, to the animals making their individual sound, chickens flapping their wings._

_Noise everywhere._

_Noise has become a part of the norm in this region and it is something that we as humans have gotten so used to, even though we don't have a choice, we just have to acclimatize ourselves with this noise, this distraction everywhere._

_Staying focused in such an environment is going to be a chore. Being the quiet one in a world filled with noise is distracting._

_You have to steady your mind, program your thoughts to stay focused on your activity at hand._

_Like I said, staying focused in such an environment is quite a difficult task and for me as a student staying in the hostel, it's a major challenge to stay focused. Because of this, I now read at night when every where is quiet and everyone is asleep._

_So either I stay in my room at night to read or to write my notes, or I go to a quiet environment, let's say my class or library or whatever secluded environment where I know that I will not be distracted by noise._

_But if I cannot do that, if I cannot stay focused, if I cannot find a place that is without distraction,what I do is that I put on my headset. I have a noise cancellation headset._

_I might not be playing music or I could be playing a very calm sound, not loud, not confusing, not a soundtrack that has much beats that would distract me, but it would cover up noise I don't need._

_And this helps me just stay focused on what I'm doing, on the activity at hand at that moment. Be it reading, writing, whatever it is that I'm doing. Just like I said, staying focused on a world full of noise is quite difficult._

_Like for instance, I'm going to take for example, during a period where I had exams._

_So you know, I couldn't stop people from making noise and talking or gisting or coming down the stairs or coming up the stairs._

_I had to read in the night when everybody has gone to bed._

_It really altered my sleeping pattern,but at that point I really didn't have a choice. That's just what helps me stay focused at that particular moment._

_Other times, if I want to think, like I have a lot in my mind, and I want to ease tension and just focus on my thoughts, I take a walk to the wellness park at the entrance of my school._

_During this period, I put my phone on do not disturb mode, or airplane mode, so that nobody can reach me or call me._

_My phone also has a focused mode which helps me by locking the apps that I don't want to use for a period of time._

_This feature has really helped me curtain my time on social media._

_So In a world so noisy, it's possible to stay focused._
