**Es scheint auch ich werde ein Opfer des Klimawandels. 
Eine große Dürre kommt daher und damit meine ich keine hochgewachsene, schlanke Frau. 
Mitte Oktober und noch kein Tropfen Regen vom Himmel gefallen, was laut Wettervorhersage auch erst mal so bleiben soll.  
Stattdessen 32 Grad Celsius, brutaler Sonnenschein und der Brunnen, wie auch der Ententeich, gehen langsam in die Knie, sprich es ist kaum noch Wasser zum gießen des Gartens da. 
Da heißt es sich den Gegebenheiten anzupassen, die Anbaufläche zu verkleinern und so begann ich die Radieschen, Möhren, Rettiche, Knoblauch und weiße Rüben, in Autoreifen anstelle auf dem weiten Acker auszusäen. 
Dies hat den Vorteil das man deutlich weniger Wasser braucht und auch dem Unkraut leichter Herr wird.**

**Das ist nun drei Wochen her und schon jetzt werden die ersten Radieschen geerntet. 
Für den eigenen Bedarf reicht die Menge welche in so einem Reifen Platz findet allemal aus, Vorräte horten fällt aber flach. 
Egal, frisch schmeckt das Zeug eh am besten.**

**Um die Quitten dagegen, muss man sich nicht sorgen, die wachsen immer und überall ohne mein Zutun und ihnen scheint es egal zu sein wie das Wetter ist. 
Schändlicherweise hatte ich diese Frucht über Jahre völlig ignoriert, da ich einfach keine Verwendung für sie hatte, bis mir die Idee kam sie einzumaischen und Schnaps daraus zu brennen. 
Neben dem Medronho und einem Himbeerbrand, war dies die beste Spirituose die je aus meiner Destille floss und erfreute sich allgemeiner Beliebtheit. 
Ab da wurde mein Interesse geweckt, aus dem gesunden Früchtchen auch andere Dinge herzustellen und heraus kamen Spezialitäten wie Quitten Gelee, Sirup, Kuchen, Saft und ein schneller Nachtisch.**

Shamefully, I had completely ignored this fruit for years, as I simply had no use for them, until the idea came to me to mash them in and distill schnapps from them.

From then on, I became interested in making other things from this healthy fruit, and specialties like quince jelly, syrup, cake, juice, and a quick dessert came out.

**Für dieses Kompott, braucht es neben der Frucht nur ein bisschen Zucker, Zitrone und Zimt. 
Früchte waschen, klein schneiden, in einem Topf mit wenig Wasser köcheln lassen, Gewürze dazu und wenn die Stückchen weich sind vom Herd nehmen und abkühlen lassen, fertig. 
Ich mische mir zur Leckerei noch  einem Becher Joghurt unter, das gibt den Extra Kick.**

Wash the fruit, cut into small pieces, simmer in a pot with a little water, add spices and when the pieces are soft remove from heat and let cool, ready. 
I mix in a cup of yogurt for a treat, it gives that extra kick.

**Die Quitten sind nicht nur sehr schmackhaft, sondern fördern auch noch die Gesundheit, was man bereits in der Antike wusste und die Früchte als Heilmittel verwendete. 
Dank der vielen Ballast, Gerb und Schleimstoffe, wirkt sich der regelmäßige Verzehr positiv auf die Darmflora und den Verdauungsapparat aus. 
Gerbsäuren und Vitamin A vermögen es bei Arteriosklerose und Gicht  Linderung zu schaffen. 
Das enthaltene Pektin senkt den Cholesterinspiegel, bindet Schadstoffe und unterstützt somit den Körper beim Abbau von Giftstoffen. 
Auch bei Husten, Verbrennungen, Verstopfungen, Mundgeruch, Sonnenbrand etc., kann die Quitte hilfreich sein. Ein wahres Wunder, dieses Früchtchen. 
Die Herrschaften von [EAT SMARTER](https://eatsmarter.de/ernaehrung/wie-gesund-ist/quitten-kalorien-und-naehrwerte) nennen fünf Gründe, warum dieses Obst nicht auf dem Speiseplan fehlen sollte und überraschten mich mit der folgenden Behauptung: 
"Inhaltsstoffe der Quitte stehen im Verdacht bei der Vorbeugung von einem Influenza-Virus zu helfen ". 
Was will man mehr, besser als impfen!** 😉

" Ingredients of quince are suspected to help in the prevention of an influenza virus ". 
What more could you want, better than vaccinating!😉 

**Leider ist es auch bei der Quitte so wie bei allen anderen Früchten, das man sich beeilen muss beim ernten, ist der Weg von der Reife bis zum Vergammeln nur ein kurzer und man hat das Problem, so man Vorräte schaffen möchte, von einen auf den anderen Tag vor schwindelerregenden Mengen zu stehen, die schnell verarbeitet werden müssen.**

**Ich gehe es dieses Jahr ruhig damit an, habe ich doch noch immer jede Menge Gläser vom letzten Jahr in der Speisekammer stehen. 
Bloß kein Stress,  schließlich gibt es ja noch mehr zu ernten! 
Auch die [Physalis](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kapstachelbeere) oder auch Kapstachelbeere genannt, verbreitet sich mittlerweile von selbst auf meinem Land und längst nicht mehr nur im Garten. 
Dieses Exemplar wuchs plötzlich am Fuße unseres Badepools.**

**In dieser ganz wunderbar schmeckenden Beere, verstecken sich viele Inhaltsstoffe die der Körper mag und braucht. Erwähnenswert ist der hohe Beta – Carotin Gehalt, sowie Eisen und die Vitamine C, A, B1 und B6. 
Am liebsten verzehre ich die kleinen Vitaminbomben direkt vom Strauch, aber auch in Rum eingelegt machen sie eine gute Figur, was man vom dem Verkoster, wenn er zu viele davon nascht nicht mehr behaupten kann.**

**Ihr merkt schon, an Nahrung fehlt es nicht und mich freut es, das die Natur es gut mit mir meint und mich mittlerweile ein wenig damit entlastet, in dem sie ihre Arbeit selbstständig, ohne mein weiteres zu tun, verrichtet und ich nur noch ernten muss.**
