How are you doing, friends?

A few years ago, an old man from the countryside I met told me that lizards come down to kiss the ground at midday. He told me this when he saw me engaged in the arduous and ineffective task of photographing them; in truth, he felt sorry for me having to work so hard to take pictures of these little animals. From this I learned a lesson: I didn't wait until midday, because I never got to check if it was true, but I discovered that they love to seek out those little spaces of light within the shade, and that proved very useful to me.

Hace ya algunos años, un anciano del campo al que conocí me comentó que los lagartos bajan a besar la tierra al mediodía. Me lo dijo al verme enfrascado en la ardua y poco eficaz tarea de fotografiarlos; en verdad, le daba lástima verme pasar tanto trabajo para hacer fotos a estos animalitos. De ahí saqué la enseñanza: no esperaba al mediodía, porque nunca llegué a comprobar si era cierto, pero descubrí que les encanta buscar esos pequeños espacios de luz dentro de la sombra, y eso me resultó muy provechoso.*

I took advantage of a part of my yard where there are some dry branches under the cherry tree. When the sun shines, some quickly appear and stay there quietly for a while.

I couldn't say whether they are courting, resting, guarding their territory, or simply sunbathing, but they certainly pose for photos.

This specimen is posing against the light. Here, caring for the territory is vital, I believe; otherwise, it would be waiting for the opportunity to have its photo taken.

What is certain is that they never take their eyes off me; whatever I do, they follow me with their gaze.

I know this isn't a lizard, but a bird, but it still posed like that on the dry branches and I couldn't resist taking a photo, even though it wasn't the real star of the story.

This is one of the photos I am most fond of. To be honest, I took it some time ago, but I took so many photos of this little one because I loved how that ray of light hit him in the almost total darkness. It made me fall in love, and that was what made me want to take photos.
