My most sincere greetings friends, I wish you an excellent day and may a lot of positive energy be with you always. I have a very close friend who always told me: "Yours is to sit and watch life go by", something that bothered me a lot. I confess it, although I think it was not true, but you know what, I am applying it to street photography, how is that?


>*Mis más sinceros saludos amigos, les deseo una excelente jornada y que mucha energía positiva les acompañe siempre. Tengo un amigo muy cercano que siempre me decía: «Lo tuyo es sentarte y ver la vida pasar», algo que me molestaba bastante. Lo confieso, aunque creo que no era cierto, pero saben qué, lo estoy aplicando a la fotografía callejera, ¿cómo es eso?*

This time I listened to Juan, my friend. So I arrived in Havana and, instead of going out walking like a madman, I looked for a discreet place and sat down. From there I watched life go by, it's amazing how from stillness we have a different view of reality.

>*En esta ocasión le hice caso a Juan, mi amigo. Entonces llegué a La Habana y, en lugar de salir a caminar como un loco, busqué un lugar discreto y me senté. Desde allí vi la vida pasar, es asombroso cómo desde la quietud tenemos una visión diferente de la realidad.*

In these circumstances you have to improvise, so I brought a thermos with mint tea so that the onlookers would not feel threatened. It was suspicious to see someone sitting there taking pictures. And since Cubans are mysterious and frightening, more than one approached to ask: what was I doing?

>*En estas circunstancias hay que improvisar, por eso, traje un termo con té de menta para que los curiosos no se sintieran amenazados. Era sospechoso ver a alguien sentado haciendo fotos. Y como los cubanos somos misteriosos y asustadizos,  más de uno se acercó para preguntar: ¿qué yo hacía?*

Suddenly I realized that I was not the only one in those circumstances. Nearby a man had disguised his dog as a policeman and sat waiting for a tourist who wanted to take a picture of him.

>*De pronto me di cuenta de que no era el único en aquellas circunstancias. Cerca un señor había disfrazado su perro de policía y se sentaba al asecho  esperando algún turista que quisiera hacerle foto.*

I did not stay in the same place all the time, after a while I looked for another place, always for the sake of not raising suspicions. I repeat that we are a bit dramatic around here, ha, ha, ha, ha, but the truth is that it worked for me, and I even found some scary statues like this one.

>*No toda la estancia la hice en el mismo sitio, pasado un tiempo buscaba otro lugar, siempre por causa de no levantar sospechas. Les repito que somos un poco dramáticos por aquí, ja, ja, ja, pero la verdad me funcionó, y hasta encontré estatuas algo tenebrosas como esta.*

I could not miss the fountain with the birds in the old Plaza de Armas, it is an obligatory stop on my tour.

I thanked my friend Juan for his advice, and it gave me good results. It is not something I should always do, of course, but it is a good alternative for a change. The fact is that I arrived home less exhausted than usual and very happy with the photos I was able to take.
