The weekend finally arrived and with it so did my laziness. With all that has been going on lately, it was a wonderful decision to stay inside for the entire day yesterday, only to venture out to get some ingredients to cook something. I woke up around 3 or 4PM, I can't quite remember. Had some coffee, had some late breakfast, and pretty much just went back to bed. Followed by a cozy evening just watching things and lazing around. I needed this. I needed a day or two to just put the outdoor world behind me a little and to rest, to recover a bit from the past three weeks which have been utterly chaotic and really exhausted all the creative energy I had. It led to a bit of fatigue with photography, even. As I grew so tired my mind just couldn't comprehend the idea of picking up the camera so often. But after yesterday, today didn't feel so challenging. Another relaxed day with a small cinema visit to watch The Boy and the Heron. A beautifully animated film that was displayed within a small former room in an old Georgian home, now turned cinema, cafe, and co-working space. That was a great introduction to the day that reminded me that I should get back into drawing now I have some more energy, and definitely a lot of inspiration again. 

These past few weeks have definitely drained me, my want to do things kept decreasing and I could feel the fatigue in my body, especially visible in my face. I'd wake up with such intense bags under my eyes, such a struggle to wake up each day no matter how much coffee I attempted to rely on, and still I'd throw myself outside and attempt to do things, even if it was for buying things for the apartment, or pursuing some drone videography for the intent on making more money. It has been a constant juggle of everything.

One thing I really enjoy here is that weekends do feel like they're treated like weekends. Even on a Saturday things slow down, the city feels a bit more peaceful, and the roads are certainly more quiet. It's like everyone feels that fatigue that comes with the weekdays, and takes advantage of the two days to just sit and take it all in. This wasn't really the case back in Armenia, it was either a constant state of chaos and unpredictability, or a clear pursuit of laziness at all times with that level of intense stress. Tbilisi has really been winning me over so far, just managing to hold a nice mixture of the fast-paced lifestyle with the slow side of it too. It's an easy space to find a simple and cozy life within. After the cinema, there was lunch in a small cafe owned by a single woman. Following after that was exploration into the other side of the city that hadn't yet been explored. An old Soviet factory had been repurposed into a huge hostel, with a series of cafes and bars as well as vintage shops that were found outside it. So much life within that small space, so many people coming and going, and it was probably the most normal thing I had seen in months. 

One cafe even had board games within it, allowing people to pick and choose and just sit and play some games with their friends if they wanted. This was something that really pulled me in, as lately I've wanted to find more ways to escape the laptop, to escape phones, and just sit and relax and be free of it all. Perhaps it's that fatigue, perhaps it's that want to reject a lot of the modern life and pursue the fun old times where we had fun without it all being so present at all times.

I've been craving a bit more of the regular life as of late. Wanting to find spaces where people hang out and find things to do. Areas of community that have people sharing interests. It was something that was hard to find back in Armenia, and the few events that were attended heavily underwhelmed and inevitably went under shortly after. Even the spaces that didn't underwhelm still struggled to survive. The area visited earlier reminded me much of a bar and cafe that was tucked away inside an old Soviet building in Armenia, incredibly beautiful with plenty of plants that filled the space. It was probably the most lively part of Yerevan I experienced, and shortly after Christmas the space went under, and I still have no idea what happened to that space. I had the feeling that Russians would bring interesting aspects of culture to the city, and without the support from most, they couldn't support themselves, to which they closed up shop and went back to Russia. A common theme that happens in these areas, and I feel a similar feeling here in Georgia. Though there *are* more Russians here, and there is more support for it all.

I appreciate the attempts regardless. And Georgians certainly do attempt to adapt to the more European lifestyle whereas Armenians really didn't. This mix of culture and subcultures seems to have an early start here, not quite flourishing yet but showing some strength. It just needs a bit more of a boost and appreciation with more effort coming in as those subcultures grow here in time, especially among the younger generations.

Tbilisi seems to embrace a lot of the youthful aesthetic. The vintage interest in fashion and products. It's an old city with some rapid growth but not forgetting the roots it holds. I really do enjoy it for those aspects. It doesn't feel dull or void, and there are a lot of people trying a lot of different little things to survive here. So many niches, so many small spaces down old roads that are home to little companies and startups, the creative pursuits of many are visible in markets as people attempt to mix and match interests with product offerings. There's definitely an underground side to Tbilisi that is yet to be fully discovered, a side of it that is heavily embraced by many, but you wouldn't really see them walking through the most central spaces of the city. You sort of have to roam and explore, search online and take a few chances on some commutes into the unknown. This is an era of the Internet, where you won't find places on the maps anymore, but instead will find things on Instagram. It's a world I'm so unfamiliar with, but it's interesting how these spaces adapt to such changes. As these cities change so quickly nothing is really cemented into a particular address. I tried finding camera shops here and most suggested looking on Instagram pages which work purely online.

I do think with time I'll find some unique spaces, that I'll end up finding areas that suit me more, almost integrating into various subcultures here in some aspects. Definitely likely to be on the photography side of things, which seems to be quite large despite mostly unnoticed.

And that has generally been my thoughts and actions these past few days. A bit slower, though in the mind things still hold momentum. Always thinking and trying to understand, always curious and wanting to discover. As long as my body recovers and I don't feel so tired though, that's fine. I want to explore, to meet new people and find interesting spaces to roam through and capture.
